I’ve been going here for several years now. It’s always a 10/10 experience. I appreciate so much that they offer several non dairy drink options. Their seasonal drinks are always exceptional. As well as my usual, oat milk latte. They have vegan and gluten free food options which I really appreciate . A few times I have asked about the pour over coffee of the day. Every time they have kindly explained the different flavours and notes I can expect in the beans. When we order hot chocolate, and they see we have our kids with us. They go out of their way to make sure it’s cooler and not too hot for them, without us having to ask. They always acknowledge and say hello to me and to my kids when we come in. One experience in particular sticks out to me. I had forgotten to specify oat milk for my latte. She was about to start steaming my milk, and I said oh I’m so sorry I forgot to say oat milk! I want to pay for the up charge on the oat milk. I insisted a few times. She said kindly, no worries at all. It happens. It made me feel appreciated as a customer. We also get all of our coffee beans from here. This would definitely be my daily coffee run place if they had a...
Read moreHere's a dillema of mine: When I'm hungry and also want some coffee I will typically order some proper, savoury food and a coffee to drink BUT even though I want them both they rarely pair well together. Maybe it's just me but the flavours are usually conflicting and I end up parched/wishing I had just ordered like a juice or something. This wasy life for 24 years until Whitecap introduced me to their Biscuit Sandwiches.
They bridge the gap.
I favour the ham and cheddar variety and will sometimes ask them to add a bit of mustard and pickles (which they are happy to do for me). It's quite delicious but the gap is not bridged here; what connects all these tasty dots is the cheesy biscuit that acts as bread for the sandwich. It's gentle cheesy flavour supports it's hearty contents while it's crumbly buscuit texture marries it beautifully to a freshly brewed V60.
A bite of one, a sip of the other and I've got genuine goosebumps roughly 50% of the time I order this unlikely dream team (my wife and I go most Saturdays). Everything I've had from their menu has been great but I think this particular combo is really something...
Read moreI tried whitecap again for the first time in years, this morning. Pleasant atmosphere upon entry. Despite knowing my order in advance and having little interaction with the staff, they all seem friendly. Paid ~$6 for a large mocha with whipped cream… Not sure if they mixed up my order, or just have an interesting take on mocha, but whatever I had was good nonetheless. I sat upstairs for about an hour to kill time, and it went by quickly. When it was time to go, I had a hard time mustering the will to stand up, as I’d made myself quite comfortable. Overall, good...
