1928 Eatery & Pub — Restaurant in Winnipeg

I couldn't be more excited about "my bar" reopening once again, it's been far too long! The menu is very interesting and all food is one price around $8. You can see why it's $8 as the portions are smaller but for me this is perfect. The beer selection is incredible, there are a massive amount of taps with plenty of local options. They also carry a very good stock of beer selections in cans / bottles. There are daily happy hours and they even have daily themes planned out. Thursday for example is comedy night.

However my sentiments are similar to those of some of the other "old regulars". I really really miss the old look and that is why I went there. It had an old school wooden island bar where all the regulars would sit around and the bartenders were real people (no offense to the new staff). It felt like I was on Cheers for a little bit on each visit.. I knew trouble was brewing when the place was sold. I had heard from other regulars that the new owner was losing money and if he had the chance he would turn the place into Condos. And then a mystery fire happened.... No accusations here, just stranger than fiction coincidences. I will support them, but it will probably never feel like "home" again to me where I have my regular beer poured for me before I...

Watch your bills people. We got charged for another persons meal from our table, and for a drink the server mistakenly brought to our table when we asked for a straw and instead she brought us a shot and then said “oh you can just have it” but then it showed up on our bill, we also had a charge for extra redbull after ordering jager bombs when you already pay almost $7 for the drink. Nobody ordered just a red bull. That’s like being charged extra for the coke when you order a rum & coke.

Server tried to bill for other persons meal from our table after our friends had already paid & left. Said that if we don’t pay she has to pay it….how is that my problem exactly when I didn’t order it or eat it.

They had double billed us and mixed up all the orders. Had to ask 3 times for some water.

Manager rectified everything at the end after disputing the incorrect charges but the service was terrible.

Otherwise a fun place to go and sing...

To say it was an awful experience is an understatement. The waitress was soo un welcoming. We walked in an hour before close, and were told immediately that the kitchen was closed, without even so much as a hello. She then told us last call was in 20 minutes. More then half an hour before close.. it was very obvious she was annoyed we were there and was hoping we'd leave. Despite that, we decided to stay, she then took 15 minutes to come take our drink order, purposely so she could last call us right away. She knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about any of the beers we asked about, told us they didn't carry something we knew they did, screwed up our drink order, then literally threw our bills in the middle of the table and walked away. We had to sort out who's was whos, which was difficult because they were wrong. Not a great way to open up a new place, at least take the time to train your servers properly., definitely won't...
