My review is of deep disappointment with my recent dining experience at Aaltos Club Regent. I arrived just before 5:00 PM on March 27th for the buffet, expecting a fresh and enjoyable meal, but what I encountered was far from acceptable.
I started with a bowl of wonton soup and a salad. The spring salad was wilted, so I opted for romaine, having to sift through to find decent pieces. Excited to try the soup, I was immediately let down by its complete lack of flavour. While I dislike wasting food, I forced myself to eat it. Then, after only a few bites of my salad, I began experiencing stomach discomfort. The house dressing had a strong, unpleasant odour, leading me to believe it had been sitting out too long and had gone bad. Concerned, I went for a fresh plate, only to find that the romaine had been picked over and the remaining lettuce was wilted. I tried a mayo-based noodle salad, only to find it just as disappointing: bland and unappetizing. After eating very little, I had to go straight to the washroom.
To make matters worse, when I attempted to grab a cookie, it was as hard as a hockey puck. At this point, I expressed my concerns to the waitress, who acknowledged them and offered to get the manager. However, the manager’s response was shockingly unprofessional. Instead of addressing my concerns with any level of care or concern, he was dismissive and rude. He even went so far as to tell me that he had eaten from the salad bar earlier that day and saw nothing wrong with it. That statement was completely irrelevant—what may have been fine at lunchtime does not guarantee the food was still fresh and safe by dinnertime.
Rather than listening to my concerns, the manager simply insisted that he had checked the salad bar and that the lettuce "looked fine." He failed to acknowledge my experience, offer an apology, or provide any reassurance. While I understand that I was still charged the full price, it would have been nice to see any attempt to rectify my poor experience. Instead, I left feeling unheard, dismissed, and thoroughly dissatisfied—something no customer should feel after dining out.
I have always believed that the customer is valued, but after this experience, I am questioning whether Aaltos Club Regent holds that...
Read moreThe service was terrible ,was told I could bring in cake ,then told no upon arrival .My mom was very disappointed as we were celebrating her birthday .The manager was very rude and unreasonable about our situation. We have brought many cakes in the past and never had a concern. The worst is when I called and was told yes it is all good and upon arrival it is not.The food was cold and the manager even colder. The server was good ,but it was too late by then to make it a good experience. The issue was transfer of nut allergies, but you have nuts on the pastry anyway . This was and will be the last time we come to this location. The Manager was very unreason .She walked around our table and had a very sour look ever time .We will want a response from a General manager or higher. The manager and head chef came out with the concent form, and explaned it in detail .I signed and we were allowed to bring in cake after all.The server was fantastic and very calming THROUGHOUT the brunch. My father and mother In law enjoyed it .That's all that matters in the end. There should be better communication between the managers. The floor manager was professional when I paid the bill. We have had many events including my wedding at this location and will confirm regulations before...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I frequently go to the Club Regent Aalto’s buffet. We both love it! The food is great and the choices change depending on the day you go. Lots of salad bar choices and a great dessert selection as well which includes soft serve ice cream and all the topping for your own sundae creation. The management and staff are always friendly and willing to answer any questions. It’s definitely our favourite place to eat! Update: Since the Prime Rib Saturday Buffet started a few months ago, we barely go anymore. The price jumped almost $15 a person from the previous Saturdays. As me and my girlfriend prefer the roast beef/turkey that was served previously compared to the almost raw Prime Rib that is now served, it would be nice and we would be back regularly if we had an option to opt out of the Prime Rib and pay the previous, reasonable price. We used to go almost every Saturday, but now go once every couple of months due to the unwanted food changes and definitely unwanted price increase. Not sure who came up with this business decision but it...
