Small place. No commercial exhaust system (just saw a single intake, the type you'll find in a bathroom maybe). Narrow tables, small grills; those sitting before the grill will take the full brunt of the heat, smoke, and oil splatters. Grill also drips underneath the table onto your feet. Given metal salad tong with no insulated handle to grill with; tongs get hot fast, and has absolutely no grip power on the meat. Ordering system needs work, orders are done via smartphone with QR code. Servers have no way of tracking what was and wasn't brought out at all. Servers also lack self-awareness of checking table to determine what was missing or not; had half of our orders missing (includes easy items like drinks and rice) and had also got doubles of items (we somehow got 2 lettuce bowls when it stated 1 max per table, the 2nd came about half hour after the first as well and we clearly had a full bowl at the head of table). Confronting server on missing items was useless, just directed back to the QR code with no attempt to understand/communicate. When reordering -an entire hour after the first and talking to server- we still got missing items and the servers combined some reorders with the first order as well. Made ordering very stressful as they couldn't tell us if items were backordered/just missing, and we didnt want to over order and pay the extra $10 for every 250g of wasted food. Simple drink ordering needs improvement, menu gives 2 soda options but they also have other options if you look at fridge, and enter under "notes" when ordering (had to figure that out ourselves). Unique ordering system was not explained, had to figure it out ourselves as well. We did tell them it was our first time, but server only give us the QR code and that was it. Server never checked in on table; instead someone running from kitchen/front checked in on us once during the 2 hours we were there. I'll also like to note that the server was NOT busy (if they were the issues could've been excused). Literally stood at counter waiting to bring out orders. At 7-9pm on a weekday it was not busy. There was about 10 tables in the entire place, all those not currently in use was not cleaned or cleared during the entire two hours we were there. Server also made no attempt to help clear table of empty food tray/plates (even when moved to end of table), only grabbed them when they dropped off orders. Our table was in full view of counter where they stood idly. Again only the one girl we saw going from kitchen/front took away the empties outside of bringing orders. Cannot handle larger parties, we were a group of 6 small Asians using the only bigger table they had (single grill still). The table barely fit us all. Tabletop was already crowded with just our plates, grill, drinks, and 3-4 orders. We initially made a reservation for 7 and one member couldnt make it; we were assured our larger party was of no issue. Food was okay. Meat was alright, seafood of low quality, korean pancake was 90% pancake. Menu could use additional description, the meat had different marination but no details were given to some at all.
If you do visit. I recommend a max party of 4, and entering orders in small batches, so it's easier for the server (our largest order had about 15...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at this restaurant left much to be desired, primarily due to an unsettling encounter during the payment process. While the service in terms of food delivery was commendable, the overall impression was marred by the cashier's behavior. We were taken aback when the waiter at the register, who had served us well throughout the meal, requested a 10% tip for parties of five people or more.
Of course for the tips, we all agreed that we should add it when we're still in the middle of the meal. While we appreciated good service, the manner in which this request was made felt awkward and left me uncomfortable. It's disheartening when an otherwise pleasant dining experience is tainted by such an approach to tipping.
When my friend didn't know how much the 10% tip was, the waiter answered but it was very quiet and the restaurant was quite noisy, so we couldn't hear clearly and missed the key, but then the waiter spoke loudly with a bit of attitude and forced my friend to tip the rest, we were at shock because of the way of the waiter did. This unnecessary solicitation for a specific tip percentage detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal and left a negative impression that overshadowed the positive aspects of...
Read moreI would NOT recommend.
I went to try out this new Korean BBQ two weekends ago with my girlfriends and this place had poor ambience. It's very small, crowded and smoky.
When we ordered on the iPad, there were very small selection of food. When I got my miso soup, there was literally nothing inside of it, plus it wasn't as hot/warm - I was expecting at least little pieces of tofu and kelp inside my miso soup.
After our meat came, my girls and I were heavily disappointed as the meat dishes were not marinated (therefore it had no flavour). We were basically seasoning our meat with salt and pepper. Not only were we disappointed by the meat, but when we ordered sweet potatoes, they literally chopped a slice of raw sweet potato and served it to us (not your authentic goguma mattang).
I also asked for ice in a cup as they served us warm water, however, they told me that they don't have cold water or even ice.
If you're looking for an authentic Korean BBQ restaurant, you're better off going to IGI or Isaytakoyummy. You'll definitely feel much better, especially paying for...
