Stepping into the restaurant and billiards joint on Selkirk Ave in Winnipeg is like hopping into a DeLorean and zooming straight back to the glory days of the 70s and 80s. I've never been to Eddie's before and I was pleasantly surprised. It was really what I had hoped for, a down-home place serving regular down-home food.

When I came in there were only 3 people plus staff in the restaurant and by the time I left there were about 12 or 15 people. The funny thing is that they all seem to know each other. I'm not sure if this is so much a restaurant as Club for the owner to see his friends on a daily basis.

They have a decent menu of Burger sandwiches the old favourites which I'm sure hasn't changed in many years. I dared to have a chili cheese burger and it was very good with a meatloaf size Burger nicely dressed and slathered with the homemade chili. I could only eat half of it and gladly took the remainder home for later.

Eddy's, to me, is a home away from home. Their staff are lovely, friendly sorts, and they don't play games with the prices; everything there is priced fairly. A particular favorite of mine—and I'm sure everyone else—is their corned beef. For around 10 bucks you can get a truly impressive sandwich stacked high with flavorful corned beef and your choice of hot or mild mustard.
