Four Crowns Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Winnipeg

If you are looking to book a room at this location make sure you get a contract in writing. We held an event in early May and a subsequent event this last weekend, suddenly the rules changed and there is now a 'hall rental fee' to use the private banquet room. Usually if there is a room rental fee there is a written contract to sign and agree upon but not with this place. The owner was very adamant in his demands and just talked over us would not listen.

We use to be very loyal customers of this establishment, especially during the pandemic. The food is good and most of the service staff is very friendly. However, after this recent experience we will never be supporting this place again - nor will the 40 or 50 friends of ours that were involved in this event. They were all stunned about this sudden new 'hall fee' added. We all tipped the server very well and tried to support this restaurant as much as we could. Not anymore, a short sighted cash grab is going to cost this place thousands of dollars in future revenue. We paid the hall fee and made it very clear they will never see another dollar from us ever again!

I am adding Part 2 to my review after the owners response. The owner is strictly relying on verbal communication on a he said/he said disagreement. I encourage the owner to go back to his phone on Monday June 27th at 9:52 am, I sent a text and specifically told him the numbers are lower than first anticipated and asked the question at what level of numbers attending (ie 30, 40 people?) would the extra $200 fee incur, he did not response to my text.

We did hope for 50 people earlier (many more than that were invited) but the fact it is on a July weekend when many people are on holidays, cabin, other commitments decreased the numbers.

This goes to prove even more the importance of putting this in writing and the only legitimate writing on this event happened from me - nothing from the owners side so this allows him to change his parameters from event to event. As we have stressed earlier, this 'hall rental' had never occurred in previous bookings. This was a new fee that was strictly unclearly explained verbally followed up by no response in a text.

What is the most disappointing part in this whole experience is the owners combative, antagonistic treatment of his previous loyal customers. Instead of a reasonable discussion about what each party understood (verbally) he is pretty much going to every extreme to call his customer a liar. If there was any thought of reconsidering and ever attending this establishment again it has been eliminated by the owners combative response. We, and 40 or 50 of our friends that will never spend another dollar at this...

I arranged for 4 friends to meet my partner and I at Four Crowns for 6pm on Thursday, January 23, 2025, to celebrate his birthday. My partner regularly goes on wing night with clients or friends and recommended it. Three of us at the table had never been before.

We arrived around 6:15pm and were seated quickly. The bar wasn’t overly full and when our waitress arrived, we ordered drinks and one of our friends ordered nachos while we waited for the other couple to show up. The nachos took longer than expected, but we weren’t in a rush. Once everyone was there, we all ordered – two of us meals and the two of the guys, including my husband, ordered wings (each ordered 2 lbs with different sauces). Our food took a very long time to get to our table. I received my meal first, along with one of the guy’s wings (which we later found out was the wrong order and belonged to someone else). My fries were not hot but I was hungry so started eating them, expecting the rest of the tables meals to arrive in the next few minutes. It took another 15 to 20 minutes for the next meal to arrive. From there, there were still 2 people at our table, who ordered 2 lbs of wings each, that hadn’t received their food. Finally the next person received their wings. It took over an hour for the final person to get his food. We kept asking the waitress during this time when the rest of the meals would be brought out and she kept saying she would check then wouldn’t come back to us. In the meantime, another table that arrived after us and they had their wings brought out multiple times before our entire table even had their meal. It was awkward and upsetting for my partner who had recommended going to Four Crowns and by the time the last person got their food, we were all finished eating and ready to leave. The waitress had to be flagged down 3 more times for bills, and I wasn’t even able to get mine from her because she disappeared again. I asked another waitress if she could bring my bill and paid for my partner and I through her.

This whole experience was baffling as it was wing night, other people were getting their food and it wasn’t very busy, but our table of six seemed to be forgotten, with no service, cold food, late food, wrong food, and very slow service for additional drinks.

Unfortunately, the people at the table who had never been before were turned off and won't be back. We also sent emails and a message to the restaurant regarding the service and never heard back. Too bad, it would have been a nice local spot to go to more regularly but I...

The menu has some good stuff. I tried the special burger that had marinated pork and fried egg. A kind of Filipino type of offering. The burger was awesome. The fries are perfect thin cut and perfectly fried. The gravy not bad. My wife had a normal cheese burger, it was also very good. Burgers have home made patties. "Awesome" the ingredients appear fresh and taste fresh..

There was one bad thing about the burgers, which was hard to let slide. After the first bite the bun literally fell in half. Not by taring​, but it just fell apart. After that it was very unpleasant and messy trying to eat the burgers. Very poor choice of hamburger buns. Other wise this review would have been a 5 star.

The environment was very nice and clean. Perfect place to eat with friends and catch a game or the fights on one of the many tv's. Or play some pool and have some drinks. The waitress that was serving us this visit was very pleasant and QUICK with the refill's. Very important to me. Lol.

The 3 star rating is only because I did not enjoy my burger properly. I felt a little disappointed after the perfect presentation did not meet the execution, in terms of a simple bun failure... To be continued after my next visit....

Visit 2- I ordered dream Nacho's. They were very good. With beef. Price point was perfect. Right amount of cheese and beef and jalapeno, and tomato's. Family odered the crown burger. The bun stayed together perfect this time. They may have changed the bun. Which is my only complaint last visit. The burger is to die for. It is juicy and home made.

There is a juniors across the street and if any of the customers new how good these burgers were they would walk over here every time. The fries are also sooooo good. Its also cheaper then junior's .

Updated my rating to 5 stars. Nothing better the watching jets games or UFC while eating in a nice...
