We were looking for something within walking distance to our hotel. There were a few possibilities but we picked Gol’s. A hearty bowl of Lanzhou noodles sounded quite tempting. The restaurant was busy but not packed when we walked in on a Friday evening. I could hear a few patrons speaking Mandarin so that was a promising sign. The menu was simple. That’s was another good sign that the restaurant focuses on serving their signature dishes. I was also glad to see that you could choose from 8 different types of their noodles hand pulled in house based on thickness and shapes. I had flat noodles with beef tendon in soup. My husband opted for tan tan noodle with thin noodles. We both asked for medium spicy. My soup was rich, the beef tendon pieces were tender, and the hand pulled noodles had the perfect springiness for Lanzhou noodles. My husband loved his tan tan noodle dish, too. We were both full half way through but could not stop eating. Service was really friendly as well. When we headed out the door, my husband asked if we left a good tip so we could come back again tomorrow night.

*** NEW CHINESE NOODLE PLACE! *** came here after a business meeting, was in the area. ordered the delicious noodle soup that everyone has probably tried by now, that is the Lanzhou noodle soup (N1 + SanXi noodles) Broth is amazing, rich flavor, just the right amount of bitterness and sweetness, can adjust spice levels with chili oil accordingly! Noodles were however bland for some reason, but the serving size was nice for the price! I just wanted to correct everyone who said this is the first hand made noodle house in Winnipeg, when it's not, Dancing Noodle was one of the first, just because you can't see them doesn't mean they don't exist. PROS • decent noodles, soup broth bomb though! • friendly staff • interior design is well done • can watch chefs spin noodles around through glass window CONS • it's fairly busy at the moment, be sure to make reservations ahead of time or show up at weird times people wouldn't normally show up to eat.

Lanzhou Noodle House truly impressed with its delightful noodle dishes and succulent beef offerings. The noodles were perfectly cooked, boasting an ideal texture that melded well with the tender beef. Despite ordering the extra spicy option, the heat level was relatively moderate, yet the flavors were undeniably delicious. This makes it a suitable choice for those who prefer a milder spice but don't want to compromise on taste. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, providing a pleasant dining experience. The staff was attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall visit. While the spiciness might not have been as intense as expected, the combination of flavors in the dishes more than made up for it. Lanzhou Noodle House certainly caters to noodle aficionados and anyone seeking a satisfying and flavorful meal.

I had always been curious about trying out Gols Lan Zhou Noodle on Pembina, Winnipeg. Finally, one evening, completely out of the blue, my family and I decided to have dinner there at around 9 pm. As we walked in, the waiter took us in, although his welcome didn't exactly feel warm and inviting. He quickly informed us that the restaurant would be closing at 9:30 pm and asked us to place our order and pay in advance. I agreed and proceeded to place our order.

The noodles we ordered were a mixed bag. The thin noodle dish was well-cooked and delicious, but the thicker noodle dish left much to be desired. Despite the inconsistency in the food, I must admit that the flavors were quite enjoyable.

To our surprise, when we asked for utensils beyond the chopsticks provided, the waiter refused to provide additional plates, offering only a soup bowl. This left us struggling to eat our dishes. It was only after my wife called him over that he begrudgingly brought us forks.

While the food was indeed tasty, the service was nothing short of deplorable. The lack of courtesy and willingness to accommodate customers' requests was disappointing, to say the least. Even though I thought leaving a good tip might improve their attitude, it didn't. Their overall service was well below par.

On a positive note, the restaurant's interior decor was pleasing, and I did express my appreciation to the chef for the food. However, the person who took our order and payment seriously needs to work on his customer service skills and take pride in serving guests.

Throughout the evening, I couldn't help but get a sense of being mistreated. The combination of the unwelcoming welcome, the refusal to provide additional utensils, and the overall lackluster service left me with a feeling of disappointment and dissatisfaction and we have no intention of returning there...

The pulled noodle soup is good and on occasion me and my family visit so we can support local restaurants and it's close location from where we live. We visited a few days ago and had the worse service from the lady at the front desk. I usually pay but this time my daughter's wanted to pay for themselves. While my daughter was paying the lady noticed that she didn't place a tip on the machine, so she commented "why no tip, my manager wants to know when people don't tip", so my daughter just replied, I can add a tip, just re-enter it on the machine, and she did. Me and my wife looked at each other shocked, this lady, I thinks she's the manager because she's always the same person that works the front, just criticized our daughter in public (There were other people in line) for not tipping. I was going to give a 20% tip anyways which I thought would of been enough, but the way she treated my kid was absolutely rude. I stayed patient and said no word. So, because of what happened, I left zero tip. There are so many other local restaurants in my area and we chose this place to spend our money. With a disgusting washroom that we can't use, and even last December when it was shut down for days by health inspectors, we still continued to support Gol's. Now, because of how we were treated on our last visit, we will never again support...

I’ve been there many times and though the options on the menu are limited, things we have tried were all pretty delicious. However, we won’t be going back. Reason being the last time I was there I saw a kitchen staff used the bathroom but didn’t wash her hands before returning to the kitchen. Pretty shocked by what I saw, I spoke with our server who went away to find out who the lady was and came back said the lady only handles dish cleaning duties and doesn’t get involved in the food making process so not washing hands was not an issue. I politely disagreed of course. Needless to say, washing hands after using the bathroom is one of the most basic hygiene requirements a restaurant should have, let alone someone who works in the kitchen and will most certainly at some point touch the same surface as the cooks do. The server handled the situation as well as he could I thought and said he’ll pass the message to the owner. I’m not sure if the message has been passed on but after a recent documentary about food safety I’ve watched, I feel like it’s important that the message is passed and hopefully, with the right conscience, set clear rules about hygienes amongst...
