Juneberry
Overall experience.
Very difficult to find the way inside. Maps directs you to the back of a very large building that they share with a few other places. So there are lots of doors. None of which are the way into the restaurant. When we did finally find the entrance in there is no greeting, no staff, no signs saying if your to seat yourself or just walk in and seat yourself.
The inside of the resturante is quite loud due to the celing being the "industrial" style with the exposed ventilation system. So there's no sound absorption so you hear every other conversation in the small dining area. To be able to talk to someone across the table from you you have to be quite loud yourself. So no private conversations can really happen here.
As for the menu because they are only open 9am - 3pm they are 90% breakfast with only 2 lunch type options. Suprisingly with the hours they are open there is alot of alcohol options on there menu. So for the day drinkers it would be nice i suppose. The average price ranges from $12 - $22 which considering that is breakfast seems quite high.
If it weren't bad enough that the menu is quite high but there descriptions of what your getting is also not accurate. I ordered a shaved steak sandwich served on with house made all dressed chips. When it arrived about 15 minuites later it came as described with the chips on the sandwich The housemate chips were honestly the only edible part of the experience. The sandwich which was $21 was so heavily doused with salt it because sliced shoe leather on a bun. They upsell the menu with ideology of getting this 5 star quality food with melted cheese on shaved steaksandwich but you get barely any cheese that doesn't go and cover the whole thing. Enough salt to fill your sodium intake for the day and an overall disappointing meal.
Overall review.
Go here for a loud conversation with a few alcoholic drinks with some friends. Don't order there overpriced food. After eating it you may feel ripped off with what you get cause it's very much not what is...
Read moreMy friend suggested we go to Juneberry based on her one experience there and me wanting to take her somewhere that was "fancy schmancy" as a thank you for her hospitality while I was visiting Winnipeg.
She had the Sweet Potato Latkes and I had the Juneberry Pancakes with Strawberry Coulis, Whipped Ricotta & Fresh Berries. We both ordered the HOUSE GROUND FENNEL AND SAGE BREAKFAST SAUSAGE with Thyme Honey Mustard and Chives. That dish was incredible! And not too sagey. I like sage but not when it's overpowering.
When our server brought our meals I broke out into laughter at the size of the Juneberry Pancakes! It was like the chef had made me my own personal sized birthday cake! It was beautiful and it was a lot of food. My friend tasted my dish and then had a second bite and I still had to have them box it up for me at the end because I could not finish it. The pancakes were amazingly high, delicious, not too sweet and perfectly cooked. The whipped ricotta and strawberry coulis was so good!
My friend loved her latkes and enjoyed every single bite.
The next time I'm in Winnipeg I will definitely be visiting Juneberry again!
My second visit to Juneberry was this August (2025) and it was lovely.
A creature of habit, I wanted the pancakes again. This time they were smothered in blueberries with a dollop of whipped mascarpone and pistachio shortbread crumb.
The shortbread crumb was incredibly delicious. I wish there had been more mascarpone. Again, it was such a large serving that I had some of it boxed up to take home.
My friend had the beef short rib hash, which he hardly enjoyed. It’s a very rich dish.
This restaurant should be on your bucket list. It won’t break the...
Read moreArrived to this restaurant with a family of 12, around 1 pm on a Saturday. I had called earlier to ask for availability, and we were told 1 hour and 30 minutes wait. We arrived to the restaurant a bit early to see if any tables were made available. The hostess ( with glasses) was very kind and accommodating, and she made the seating work with 12 people, which we very much appreciated. We were told to wait until the tables were set up, however it would have been appreciated if we were sat during the setup ( putting water on the table ) as we were a family of 12 waiting in line for a while. Afterwards, I kindly called one of the servers by saying ( excuse me) which she replied to in a very rude manner “ I’m with a table.” As she is standing right in-front of me, waiting for the other table to pay, she was completely capable of speaking respectfully. That server, came to us after, then I asked if we could be seated while waiting for the tables as we’re a big family with children. This server replied within a disgusting manner staying “things are done here in an order, so you’re going to have to wait”. With the up most attitude and disrespect. If I didn’t come here with a family I would have personally left. I am a server myself and I have never spoken to such a customer in this way. I hope nobody encounters this server as she made this experience completely distasteful. If you don’t enjoy your job, don’t be a server, if you can’t talk to people with kindness, this is not the job for you, the job is to serve, not with a plate of attitude on the side. ( was not able to get the servers name, however she had dirty blond hair to her chest area,...
