I invited two of my friends to eat out for dinner to moxies, i insisted so much on bringing them here because i enjoyed my last visit here and i enjoyed the food i ate. Me and my two friends ordered our food
Mine was tuna poke bowl, which i ordered the second time i came here (i loved it and i still love it until now)
Also ordered the tuna sushi for appetizers and we loved it.
My two friends ordered ribeye. Both medium rare. One came out perfect, the other one came out medium. Seeing the comparison from the other ribeye that my other friend already had, we knew that it was not the same. So we talked to the waitress about it. Which they offered to replace, which was nice. However, when my friend got the replacement, it was burnt and medium well. Clearly, the chef didn't take the criticism well. We let the waitress know, and she definitely saw the difference right away and offered to give it to my (1) friend for free and gave my (1) friend a $50 voucher as an apology. but my (1) friend did not wish to go back here because of the bad experience he just had, so he tried ordering their famous white chocolate to use the voucher for it. I didn't want to eat anything anymore, but they still insisted. The desert was delivered by a different waitress and said "here you go" and left the desert without even checking if we had forks or plates and just walked away (she could have just informed us that they were short of tablewares or that the tableware was on the way). This was where i lost it. i just wanted to get out of there.
My friend also ordered a chicken alfredo to go for her husband as well, which was charged to my bill, but i forgot to tell them as i was already upset at this point.
Talked to the manager up front to let them know what happened, they seemed apologetic about it and was nice. Some of the waitresses were nice as well. Some were not. They took off the desert as well for my friends, which was nice of them. I commend them for that and thankful for it. But when i went home, my friend (2) told me that the alfredo that she ordered for her husband was extremely salty... clearly, the chef doesn't like cristicism. If you eat here, make sure you don't complain about your food guys. Or else the chef will give you hell and waitresses will give you the stares and poor service. I hope this...
Read moreIt is expensive... My friend had the butter beef dish...we felt for the Naan bread two slices was not enough especially if it's for scooping up the saucey mea. We also felt that the little bowl was a little small to put the rice into. She also felt that the saucey had a little much of one type of spice in so she didn't really enjoy it as much as she was hoping for. There should also be two levels of heat. She did her best but found it a little too spicy. It was fine for me when tasting it.
As for my dish, I was a little disappointed with the burger, I felt the patties were thin and the burger was really sloppy with mayo... It really didn't have much flavor. Also I was not really happy with the portion of the fries... I feel we are spending more on the food and having less of it give to us. I did not think the cost really was worth the amount we got.
As for the cheesecake, well done the combination of fruit, the sauce and the walnut ground bottom was fantastic. And had a great presentation. My friend is not into walnuts but was blown away with the taste and look. So was I. The only thing we both felt, was that the cheesecake should have been a little bigger...
How we graded all the food was for her dish, the main meal was 2.5 out of 5 and her dessert was 4 out of five. For my meal 2.0 out of 5 and for dessert 4.5 on the dessert. Out of 5. Which would give you a grand total of 13 out of 20
It is a passing yes but what saved it was the dessert. My bill was just over 76 dollars for the two of us. Would we return? Sure would we ask for the same dish? Well if there is any approval on the main dish, sure... But most likely not. The atmosphere was great and the server was...
Read moreMention the 2 negative entree experiences in a row to a manager after an extremely long hiatus from Moxies approximately a week to 10 days ago!
He offered me a drink and I said I didn't drink.
He walked away without offering any solution and I was previously a longtime Moxie customer.
Moxie's had some decent fare and service in the distant past when they started at the St. Vital mall an awful lot of years ago when my young kids would love the smokin ice cream .
Then I phoned and I got to talk to another manager when I got upset because I'm trying to buy Canadian because the US chains the profit goes to the US and I'm trying to boost Canadian businesses.
I talked to a second manager said he would talk to the first manager I gave my phone number and my name.
That was several days ago after a promised call back.
Now I don't care what they've got to say.
I immediately stopped in at The keg on my way home and had a great steak......see the reviews of the Keg!
I think the importance of customer retention dwindles what's the captive audience of the mall.
Kind of the same as going up to revolving restaurants on top of high rises or food court in the malls.
Where most food chains and big box centers with 15 year olds and University students in the kitchen.
Generally expensive and barely passable to simply gawd awful!
Just my opinion.
I'll keep going to Earl's and Joey though cuz they are quite good.
I guess Moxie's has more than enough business what's the mall locations and don't...
