Oriental Pearl Chinese Food — Restaurant in Winnipeg

This was a family favourite. I am quite disappointed by our latest experience. The prices went up, but the quality went down. I’m guessing it’s under new ownership/management and new cooks because it’s nothing like I remembered. Not only was drop off late but sadly found many reviews are correct. Small portions, hard rice, clumpy noodles, over cooked shrimp which wasn’t deveined, and very chinsey with condiments and chicken ball sauce. The chow mein recipe changed.... large pieces of cheap veggies with barely any sauce, the spare ribs were boiled (tasted gross like meat and hardly any sauce absorbed), and our total was over $70 for less than ordering 10 items that weren’t very good. If I could give 0 stars I definitely would. Let me just start off by saying I'm very allergic to shellfish. Which is why I ordered breaded the veal meal. A $30 meal. My food was delivered, I asked if the courier could wait for me to check my order. Upon checking my order I find that they'd given me breaded shrimp (once again very allergic) and it covering the rice, the veggies, and the chicken balls. I literally couldn't touch anything. I called the restaurant to inform them of the mistake, and they told me that because I didn't specifically tell them I was allergic that they refuse to refund or send a new meal. I have never been more disappointed with Chinese food in my life. the chicken balls were old, dry, chewy, and slightly shriveled. the Szechwan beef with broccoli was 30% beef, 70% vegetables, half of which was NOT broccoli. the mushrooms chow Mein was half a litre of fried cabbage and been sprouts with a pinch of mushrooms packaged separately from a small bag of cold, broken, deep fried chow Mein noodles that could easily be mistaken for Farkay. Spring rolls weren't rolls at all, but a pouch of samosa type filling with lipton style noodles from their chicken noodle soup.
