Roasted Nomad — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Went there to see what all the hype was about. Online the food looked delicious and there were raving reviews. I sent a message on FB to ask if they take reservations and received a link to reserve a table. So I did. When we got there we were told that they don’t take reservations and they had no idea why that was an automated response. Even after I showed the confirmation, I was told basically, too bad. No apologies or sorry for misunderstandings, just gonna have to wait. So we waited a half hour. I had the chicken and waffles and my partner ordered the eggs Benny. The cubed potatoes were good at first bite but after a few it got too be too much. They were cubed way too big. The chicken was delicious. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The waffles were tasty but a little too hard and dry for my liking. I didn’t finish those. As for the eggs Benny, the sauce was barely there and tasted like butter more than anything. The ham pieces were huge and tasty, but it seemed to overpower the entire dish. The Croissant was tasty. Service was okay. She took our order and was pleasant. I tried this restaurant for the first time for my cousin’s birthday and we were so disappointed. The food was okay but needed salt, the service was slow, and to top it all off, my cousin found hair in her food. The server took the plate to remake it but she was still charged for her meal!!! I have never been somewhere that didn’t take care of a meal that had hair in it. Our sever didn’t even come back to the table with our bills, she made some other server come and talk to us. When we told her about how disappointed we were that my cousin was still charged for food after finding a hair, her response was “well we remade it though.” No manager visited our table and they didn’t really seem concerned at all. I will not be returning here.

I visited the Roasted Nomad for the first time earlier today and was thoroughly impressed! Our server, I believe it was Kyle, was friendly, warm and attentive! Service was quick and the food was fantastic!! I love breakfast skillets and it is usually my go-to for breakfast or brunch. This was quite possibly the best skillet I have ever had!! Amazing flavour and presentation! The other three guests in our party, all had different dishes and everyone was impressed. The latte was very tasty as well and one of our group members was very impressed with the large size of the brewed coffee. We beat the Saturday morning rush.
