I can definitely say that the atmosphere of the place is quite nice, with its marble aesthetic, and the servers were kind, attentive, and quick to seat and serve, returning several times to refill water whenever they noticed it empty and to check in and make sure that everything was going okay before and after food service.
The prices, on the other hand, are quite steep for what you get; a pizza margherita costs $23, so you think you'd get a good experience, but what you get is a wafer-thin pizza (it's not even a pita's thickness) that only has a dabbling of san marzano tomatoes, a few small pieces of mozzarella di bufala (no more than two double-thumbnail-sized thin slices per slice), and one small basil leaf per one of the four slices that they cut the pre-cut pizza into. While it tasted fine enough, due to how thin it was it got cold (not cool, but colder-than-my-glass-of-chilled-water cold) thanks to how high the AC is run, even as I was eating the first slice, and I didn't take my time; the cheese had completely lost its stretch before I finished that first slice, and by the time I got to the second slice it was already cold to the touch.
Even if the flavour was decent, the volume of food to cost is just not there, especially since a pizza margherita is supposed to be all about the delicious flatbread with the simple array of toppings, just like how it was originally made in Italy. The other pizzas have more to them, judging by what a few other customers were served having what appeared to be more thickness to the pie (could have simply been due to toppings, I could not say), but if a pizzeria's pizza margherita isn't what I'd call an adequate experience, let alone an amazing one, that definitely doesn't bode well for me.
The drinks menu is also quite highly priced for what you get, cocktail or wine both; the cheapest cost for a single glass of wine or cocktail here is approximately the cost of an entire bottle of a decent young wine that you can pick up just down the street at G.J. Andrews, and the prices go up from there.
In short, you're definitely paying more for the atmosphere and the pleasant service than for good food, here. Worth visiting once for the atmosphere and the waitstaff, perhaps, but definitely not worth it...
Read moreProbably one of the worst restaurants I've been to in a long time. I was really disappointed, as my brother said great things about his previous visits, although this time he was definitely not satisfied. Maybe the cook was just bad that night. Idk. The food was awful and extremely overpriced. I ordered a seafood risotto which costed nearly $50. When I got my food, it was luke warm at best. The flavors were weird, i got a bite that was straight spices. I decided to start on the seafood. It was again, Luke warm. The scallops were raw, and slimy. They were transparent and goopy. Not only that but they were terrible quality, clearly previously frozen and not properly cooked. The texture was awful They said they are supposed to be lightly fried on both sides, but only 1 side was minimally lightly grilled. I didnt eat it. I ordered a side of sour dough bread to fill me up and that came out burnt, it was black and tasted like cardboard. It was a table of 7 and the only person who was satisfied was my 9 year old nephew. He ordered an appetizer which consisted of 5 tiny meatballs and some burnt sourdough , which cost a whopping $25...We all left hungry. The pizzas had no sauce. It basically tasted like pita bread with some garden leaves on top, but it was the most edible thing at our table. My mom ordered pickeral cheeks, but they were burnt and just tasted like burnt balls of dough. You couldnt even taste the pickeral. I would suggest you avoid this place. The music and restaurant was so loud that you couldn't even have a conversation with the person sitting beside you. Just overall a bad experience. The server was polite, but they were clearly understaffed as they didnt even check on us until we were nearly...
Read moreGreat experience it being my wife and i first time. Had no reservations but was able to take us and a lot us a time frame if willing at a spot at the bar. I wish I had gotten the lady's name. The service was great although had servers bump my chair with a word but that's being petty. Decided to check out the website and get familiar with who they are. Was greeted by the manager which was great. Very out going and shows why the place had some great people. Ambiance was awesome love the style. Watched how they all were working together at such a busy time. It was great. Some broke a sweat but was able to attend to their customers. The food, started off with the home made meatballs. Great flavor nicely seasoned tender and was well balanced. And the toast was nicely grilled and was able to use that as a spoon to get all that sauce. Then I went for the 887 pizza and my wife the carbonara. Both were really good. Loved the chunks of mozzarella on the top. Nice char on the edges wasn't too thick. Carbonara was nicely presented with the egg yolk on top. The prawns were cooked great and the saltiness of the bacon was great. Pasta was awesome and well cooked. Lastly with the amazing food we've been receiving I just had to see how they would do for dessert. Was debating between the chocolate tart or the cheesecake. I wanted something light and not too sweet and was right on for the cheesecake. Caprino cheesecake was the best way to end our dinner. Everything worked. The raspberry puree and the addition of pistachios for added crunch! Overall it was a great experience. Had 3 employees host, bartender, manager welcome us and treated us beautifully. Thank you and would highly recommend this place. You could...
