Iāve been a loyal fan of Empty Cup since the very first location opened on Panet St. Every time a new store opened, I felt genuinely happy and made a point of visiting each one. Thatās how much Iāve loved and supported this cafĆ© over the years.
However, itās disappointing to say that the quality of the lattes has significantly declined. Lately, it no longer feels like drinks are being prepared by trained baristas, but rather by untrained staff. I donāt expect latte art, but I do expect a properly steamed and balanced drink. Unfortunately, what Iāve been receiving lately feels like poorly steamed milk hastily poured into a cup.
The locations I frequent most are Sage Creek and Academy and my recent experience has been quite underwhelming. The latte I received was mostly foam and tasted only of oat milk, with no balance or proper texture. The quality seems to vary greatly depending on who is making the drink, and unfortunately, I havenāt had a consistently good experience in a while.
Empty Cup has always been my favorite cafĆ© and Iām sharing this because I truly hope to see it return to the standard that made it so special in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI enjoy and look forward to the seasonal drinks they have and love the sips with caffeine - it reminds me of Paneraās. The issue I do have is that I wish to make more frequent visits but the hit or miss customer service is what makes me decide to just make a drink at home. The workers are what stops me from going more often and it is unfortunate because i do want the drinks you offer but have to settle elsewhere. They donāt even greet you when youāre at the register, they just stare blankly at you. Theres no enthusiasm when ordering either and they just seem like in a bad mood all the time. I understand people can have bad days but for this kind of attitude to happen all the time and going there at least multiple times a week, is just unacceptable. I often get tired of my drink rotation and enjoy the seasonal drinks you have to offer but every time I ask the workers for recommendations, they act so bored and unpleased that they have to explain the drinks to me. It honestly puts me in a bad mood receiving this kind of service. The least they can do as workers is greet, talk, explain the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMeh, overrated.
Their default is take out cups and they donāt ask if youāre staying or going. Seems a bit oblivious to me, have they forgotten about the environmental crisis weāre living in. š¤·š»āāļø or are they just trying to save themselves labour walking to a table to pick up a cup, or washing it?
Their espresso is pretty acidic. Some people love that, some not.
Iāve never seen a staff member wipe a table. And they do get dirty. They seem inconvenienced by questions about products. This seems to be a trend across coffee shops these days. I get that staff shouldnāt be forced to be happy but isnāt part of the job of helping people, to actually be helpful? š¤·š»āāļø
Anyway, the pastries from La Belle Baguette are amazing so you donāt have to go to St B for one. Thatās the best thing about the place for me.
I dunno but when I pay $5 for a coffee Id like a better experience. I think I only come to sit at the bar to be honest. If there were other options for a coffee in the area, other than Stellaās,...
