I’ve been a loyal fan of Empty Cup since the very first location opened on Panet St. Every time a new store opened, I felt genuinely happy and made a point of visiting each one. That’s how much I’ve loved and supported this cafĆ© over the years. However, it’s disappointing to say that the quality of the lattes has significantly declined. Lately, it no longer feels like drinks are being prepared by trained baristas, but rather by untrained staff. I don’t expect latte art, but I do expect a properly steamed and balanced drink. Unfortunately, what I’ve been receiving lately feels like poorly steamed milk hastily poured into a cup. The locations I frequent most are Sage Creek and Academy and my recent experience has been quite underwhelming. The latte I received was mostly foam and tasted only of oat milk, with no balance or proper texture. The quality seems to vary greatly depending on who is making the drink, and unfortunately, I haven’t had a consistently good experience in a while. Empty Cup has always been my favorite cafĆ© and I’m sharing this because I truly hope to see it return to the standard that made it so special in the first place.

So Disappointing!!! Unfortunately this location doesn't compare to the Sage Creek Empty Cup location at all. My husband and I frequent the Sage Creek location often which is absolutely wonderful, and has plenty of seating. When we moved to the Academy area location, we were very disappointed with our 1st experience here. We came to enjoy a cup of the drip drip coffee and green tea along with our favourite croissants, and there was no place for us to sit. People who are surfing the web, and working while enjoying their morning coffee were taking up space; 1 person was even taking up room at a 4 person table. We will not be back to this location, as we had to sit in our truck outside to drink our beverages, and eat our morning croissants.

I recently bought a bag of coffee beans from this cafĆ©, but there was no roast date on the packaging. The barista mentioned that it was fresh, though I didn’t receive much guidance when choosing. Unfortunately, the coffee tastes quite old and stale, which was disappointing given how nice the place itself seems. I hope they pay more attention to the freshness of their beans in the future. For now, I’d suggest double-checking before buying coffee here.

I enjoy and look forward to the seasonal drinks they have and love the sips with caffeine - it reminds me of Panera’s. The issue I do have is that I wish to make more frequent visits but the hit or miss customer service is what makes me decide to just make a drink at home. The workers are what stops me from going more often and it is unfortunate because i do want the drinks you offer but have to settle elsewhere. They don’t even greet you when you’re at the register, they just stare blankly at you. Theres no enthusiasm when ordering either and they just seem like in a bad mood all the time. I understand people can have bad days but for this kind of attitude to happen all the time and going there at least multiple times a week, is just unacceptable. I often get tired of my drink rotation and enjoy the seasonal drinks you have to offer but every time I ask the workers for recommendations, they act so bored and unpleased that they have to explain the drinks to me. It honestly puts me in a bad mood receiving this kind of service. The least they can do as workers is greet, talk, explain the...

Meh, overrated.

Their default is take out cups and they don’t ask if you’re staying or going. Seems a bit oblivious to me, have they forgotten about the environmental crisis we’re living in. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø or are they just trying to save themselves labour walking to a table to pick up a cup, or washing it?

Their espresso is pretty acidic. Some people love that, some not.

I’ve never seen a staff member wipe a table. And they do get dirty. They seem inconvenienced by questions about products. This seems to be a trend across coffee shops these days. I get that staff shouldn’t be forced to be happy but isn’t part of the job of helping people, to actually be helpful? šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Anyway, the pastries from La Belle Baguette are amazing so you don’t have to go to St B for one. That’s the best thing about the place for me.

I dunno but when I pay $5 for a coffee Id like a better experience. I think I only come to sit at the bar to be honest. If there were other options for a coffee in the area, other than Stella’s,...
