Hi-Ball Restaurant — Restaurant in Winnipeg

This restaurant is close to where we live, service is fast, and the staff is friendly. However, we have found the quality to be hit and miss. The portions are very generous, but the last time we ordered (May 11), the quality was average at best. We got chicken balls that tasted like they had been fried twice, or too long -- so tough and overcooked (including the chicken in the center) we couldn't really eat them. The pork in the hot and sour soup was dry and tasted very overcooked as well, but the flavour of the soup was nice. We had rice noodles that had nice flavour but again, quality was a bit off -- the beef was that weird "tenderized" tender, where it's cut too thick and then a little chewy on the backside. Deluxe Special Fried Rice - lots of meat and very flavourful!

Beef Chow in Black Bean and Garlic Sauce - beef was cooked to perfection and the noodles was very smokey and the sauce was amazing!

Beef in Satay Sauce - beef was so tender and the satay sauce was one of the best I’ve had.

Hot Honey Shrimp - I’ve had the Hot Honey Chicken before so I thought I’d try the shrimp version and it was another favourite. The sweet sauce went perfectly well with well seasoned and fried shrimps Very generous servings too!

Hi-Ball has never let us down in regards to food quality and portion sizes. We’ve been ordering from this restaurant for 15 years and the food has always been excellent (yesterday was no exception). To be clear, this is not fine dining, this is North American Chinese take out and it’s simply awesome every time! I haven’t ordered everything on the menu, but our favourites are always done perfectly!
