Each time we have been here we've had such a good experience. I'm not one to write many reviews but after our dinner last night I couldn't not. They've recently renovated and have two parts to their restaurant. Given it was a Friday night there were lots of couples on date night and we stopped in for a late dinner with our 3 year old. They offered us to sit in the large area with the other people or in a smaller area in front of where they prepare the sushi. I appreciated the offer as my son was entertained watching them make the sushi and if he was being a bit loud we weren't disturbing those on date night. Food came out very quickly and was all very fresh and delicious as always. What I appreciated so much this time was how the server and what appeared to be the owner treated my 3 year old. They included him by asking him questions but understood if he wasn't too interested in what they were saying. They showed him different things in the dining room and answered his questions even though they were clearly busy with a full restaurant and constant take out orders. In the end they offered him a scoop of ice cream if he finished what was on his plate. He happily obliged and then the server came back again to make sure it was alright with us that he had ice cream and said he would be right back. After 3 or 4 minutes we were wondering what the wait was as everything else had been so quick until the chef rang the order up bell and the server brought out the beautiful and elaborate looking sundae desert. It was ice cream with warm deep fries bananas, whip cream, chocolate sauce and sprinkles. My son was over the moon with it, they clearly made an over the top effort knowing it was a kids desert. Then when the bill came there were no extra charges or anything - 4 rolls, a yaki noodle dinner, 2 miso soups, edamame, an incredible desert, a juice and a coke all for $38. A great affordable restaurant for a date night or a night out with kids, would...
Read moreA month ago I made a reservation for my wife's 60th birthday party. I was told they could accommodate us and that we could place a pre-order so that everything would be ready for our party. My young son and daughter were paying for our dinner as a gift to their mom and my daughter called a week before and placed an order for the food. A day before the party we got a call saying that we did not order enough food and they would not accommodate our party unless we spent more money (when we made the reservation we were not told we had to spend a certain amount of money). When I went into speak to the owner about this he told us that he did not want our business and he could make more money if he didn't have our reservation. He also told us that another party was coming in that was spending way more money then us which is why he didn't care about our reservation. I assure you I'm not making this up. This is probably the WORST experience I've ever had at any restaurant. We were forced to not only cancel our reservation but we also had to cancel my wife's 60th birthday dinner. I have been a long time customer of sushi California which is why we chose this restaurant and I will not be back. VERY...
Read moreOrdered a large party tray for a family get together through Skip the Dishes pickup. When we went to pick it up whoever was working said to not order through Skip next time because Skip takes too much money from them. We ordered through Skip because it was a large order and most convenient for us, and because their website linked directly to Skip. If you don't want to use Skip take yourselves off the network instead of guilt tripping customers and saying the way they chose to spend money at your business wasn't good enough. Customers don't care about your profit margins, guys. We want great food and great service. Of course the food wasn't anything special either. Next time we will order from one of the numerous, better quality sushi restaurants who appreciate our business regardless of the way we choose to...
