I hate writing negative reviews about local small businesses like this one. But the reason this has two stars is because of the friendly service we did receive. The guy that served us was really nice and personally delivered our food to the vehicle after we had ordered. The food itself was not what I was hoping for as I saw excellent reviews posted about this place. I ordered a poutine and the fries had such a strange taste to them, like they had been fried in grease that hadn’t been changed in a while. There wasn’t much gravy or cheese to this meal itself either. A fair portion of fries though. My partner ordered a burger, which was disappointing as well. There was Chili on it which wasn’t BAD, but the burger itself had little to no flavour. I’m not sure if the patties are home made or not but they for sure don’t taste like it. Our milkshake was however pretty good. What I do like about this place is that it is local, and brings a sense of community and good local comfort food in the...
Read moreExcellent burgers! Went through the drive through in early June (quarantine was getting less restrictive) with 5 of us in the party. Burgers, fries, and a poutine all around. I had a bacon double cheeseburger which was thick but still manageable. I almost never get bacon on my burger as I typically find I either can't taste it, or it detracts from the burger. However, these guys do it right. Thick cut bacon on the BOTTOM of the burger, brilliant! The patties were on par with other Winnipeg greats, the chili was not over powering but very delicious. And if you like pickles, you are in for a treat! Definitely no lack of pickles on these burgers, which I loved. The bun did a good job of holding it all together. On top of all that, the fries were some of the best I've had in the city. They stayed crispy throughout the picnic experience at St. John's Park, and they were nicely salted. Can't believe I hadn't been here before now. Already dreaming of...
Read moreIt takes a rather good experience for myself to take the time to sit down and write a review.
As a small business owner (Girden Construction), I understand service is everything to obtain and retain good clients.
The food was as expected, good ol’ home cooked poutine and burger that’s gonna fill your belly. The interaction with the server is as to why I took the time to write this review though.
Clients matter and a little goes a long way on both sides of the transaction. Little more helps the business owner and little more makes the client feel valued.
Need to keep places like these around as corporate franchises cannot train their employees to be genuine people who take pride in what they do.
First time client has now become a repeat...
