Selkirk & Salter Burgers & Submarines — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Way back now before... and I mean in the long long ago... A building stood on this lot with apartments on the 2nd floor that went up 3 floors??? i cannot remember now, but the main street floor was a public laundromat where me and my friends in the neighborhood would show up to wash our clothes, and sit at small tables and drink horrible laundromat coffee and talk about the boring day. It was the late 1980's when that building was torn down and George's Burger's and Sub's was built on that spot. Later on those same friends would show up to eat the most amazing food... Back then when you ordered something they would FEED YOU, no small portions there and you never left hungry!!

Smart dude with an apron would always greet you with a smile and take your order.

I had the best burger I ever ate there, the double bacon cheese burger almost 30 years ago.. and the best ceasar salad I ever had a few years later...

Nowadays all these years later I'm glad to see he still runs the place, and their values of making shure your fed with the best food they can offer like all those years ago when they opened.

We now order from this place at work, and it's becoming a mainstay for us when we order out for burger's or subs or salads...

I wish for this brilliant spot to continue to do what they do, because they deserve every accolade possible.

And the chili!!!.. please don't get me started... if they offered it in an iv bag, I'd say hook...

I ordered my food around 1:10pm. I did not get my food until 1:35pm. I even had to go up and ask for where is my food it's been 20 minutes. The cook or owner said "we have thousands of orders just wait we will get to you!". Then 5 minutes later we got our food. Waiting 25 minutes for food is waay to long for food and if I knew it would of taken that long, I would of asked for my money back but my mom does not like conflict and let it slide. But I wouldn't come back for a while. If I have to wait this long for food, I rather go home and cook myself. 25 minutes for fries and Gravy and 1 burger is way to long. I don't care the excuse and there was multiple people in the kitchen. Anyways. If you are hungry and want fast service....

My sister and I took my mom there after her appointment. We went up to order and I placed the order for my mom; a loaded bacon cheese burger platter. All of a sudden one of the cooks starts yelling at us. “What is loaded? What is a platter” I responded “like everything on it” he starts yelling back “that’s not how you do it here” we apologized and advised him it was our first time there. We felt very uncomfortable and we left. I do not understand how someone can treat their customers like that. We were gaming about our outside while we waited for our uber and a lady told us he always treats his customers that way. Please stop supporting a business that abuses...
