本垒美式烤肉 — Restaurant in Beijing

Came here with wife and another couple. The place was clean and had a nice lobby area separate from the dining area. The service was quite fast.

(disclaimer: I am not a foodie, nor am I from the American South, though I have had amazing BBQ in Oklahoma)

I ordered the KC ribs and also tried the pulled pork and brisket. I ordered southern greens, texas beans, coleslaw, and fries as sides. Overall, it was really good and I would recommend this place. The ribs were smoked super well and still succulent; the brisket was a bit thin, but soft and tasty. Just a few minor notes: the pulled pork and the sides were a bit bland, while the bbq sauces were mostly spicy, not a whole lot of tangy, at least from what was available on our table.

Portion sizes are American-style, though not necessarily "Texas-big."

My recommendation to the owners/managers: make the sauces a bit more clearly labeled and possibly arranged in order of "hotness."

This was so cool for me. I have been in Beijing a few months and was in Shenzhen a few months. The menu mentions central Texas towns like Elgin. I'm from Austin and eat a lot of bbq in central Texas. This was pretty authentic. It is obviously not the best of central Texas but it is far better than many places ive had in Central Texas. We had pulled pork, sausage, and brisket. All were really good. I was nervous getting sausage in Beijing but it was just like Elgin, TX. Sides were real good too. I was very skeptical going into a bbq place in China. I was wrong. Authentic Texas bbq. I was so happy to have a taste of home. It's hard to not have your normal food for so long. Atmosphere was kind of like home too. Home Plate rivals 'cue in the States!

Ordered: 🔻 full slab of Memphis ribs - fantastic, spicy dry rub. Ask for the "6-pack" of sauces; they're killer too. 🔻 potato salad + carolina vinegar slaw sides - both were delicious and I appreciated that they were NOT mayo-based. I demolished the potato salad and could have easily had more!
