Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price
I had high expectations for this restaurant, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to them. The food was overpriced for what was served. The garlic eggplant lacked flavor, and the Beijing roast duck was disappointingly small for the price (168 RMB). One of the worst dishes was the beef liver, which was barely edible.
The pricing also felt off—jasmine tea for 68 RMB while a beer was only 12 RMB? That didn’t make much sense to me. On top of that, the wait time for the food was long, making the experience even less enjoyable.
The atmosphere was uninviting—the seats were uncomfortable, and it was cold inside, which made dining more unpleasant. The only redeeming dishes were the shrimp with cashews and the scallion bread, which were actually tasty.
Overall, not worth the cost. There are far better options in Beijing for this price range....
Read moreRipped off! Payed $168RMB for their Peking duck set. From the photos in their menu one would assume its half a duck. I only received 4 small slices of breast meat, the drumstick and some pieces of skin to go with 6 pancakes. Also got a small bowl of soup containing some duck bones with hardly any meat. Where is the rest of the meat?!
The other reviews are misleading as they are mostly written by clueless foreign tourists, look at the Dianping reviews to see what locals think of the restaurant.
Update - so the next day I went to Shengfunian Roast Duck Shop just around the corner. Paid $112RMB and got a much larger and tastier Peking Duck set. Highly recommend going there instead of Liu’s. Avoid Liu’s unless you enjoy...
Read moreWe stumbled across this place trying to find food close to our airbnb because we did not want to travel far. It is hard to find places with google reviews, and this place had some. I was hesitant to believe the one review that it had the best dish in Beijing, but we were more than pleasantly surprised by how great it was. Our group of 6 unanimously agreed that it was the best meal we had in Beijing. Everything we ordered was great. The highlights were the beef with soy paste, some dish with green beans and kidney beans (I think that is how it was labeled on the menu), some cauliflower dish, and the caramel apples; however, literally everything we...
