We were sucked into Huang Fan Er (็š‡้ฃฏๅ…’, HUANG FAN ER RESTAURANT), a famous restaurant in Gaoyin Food Street (้ซ˜้Š€ ็พŽ้ฃŸ ่ก—) near West Lake. Hangzhou is called the home of fish and rice, and as the saying goes, the abundant seafood from the rivers and the sea and the rice grown in the rich farmland supported the development of the agricultural and fishery industries, accumulating considerable wealth, and the wealth resulted in the development of a food culture and high-class cuisine. As the saying goes, โ€œSuzhou after life, and Youzhou after death,โ€ this place must be a great place to live. Everyone who visits Hangzhou ends up visiting West Lake (่ฅฟๆน–). In front of the East Gate of the West Lake is Hefang Street (ๆฒณๅŠ่ก—). If you walk about 800 meters along this street, you will reach Hefang Street Pedestrian Street. The northern street parallel to this pedestrian street is Gaoyin Food Street. There is a restaurant called Huangfan'er (็š‡้ฃฏๅ…’ ้…’ๆฅผ: 53-57 Gaoyin Street, Hangzhou City) with the signboard of Emperor Qianlong on Gaoyin Food Street. One day, when the 6th Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Qianlong, went on a tour of the south of the Yangtze River, he was alone in his plain clothes and climbed up a short umbrella on the south of Hefang Street, looking at the Qiantang River and West Lake. Suddenly, it started to rain. Emperor Qianlong took shelter under the shabby eaves of a nearby house, and when he was hungry, he opened the door and went in to ask for a meal. The owner of the house, Mr. Wang, could not have guessed that this strange traveler was the emperor. Anyway, because the house was poor, all they had in the kitchen was half a fish head and a piece of tofu. Here, they put in some doubanjang and boiled it until it was simmering. Emperor Qianlong, who was cold and hungry, ate it very deliciously and paid the price with silver. Emperor Qianlong remembered the taste even after returning to the Forbidden City, so he ordered it from the Yuxianbang (็ฆฆ่†ณๆˆฟ) several times, but of course, it was not the same taste as that time. Emperor Qianlong visited the restaurant again on his next tour and asked for the same dish. The Wang family prepared the food for the emperor with great care. Emperor Qianlong paid twenty taels of silver for the food and personally gave him the three characters โ€œHuang Panโ€™erโ€ (Huang Panโ€™er), and the Wang family opened a restaurant called โ€œHuang Panโ€™er Wang Lunxing (็š‡้ฃฏๅ…’ ็Ž‹ๆฝค่ˆˆ).โ€ The emperorโ€™s marketing was a great success, and the fish head dish with tofu became the signature dish of this restaura

Emperor Qianlong paid twenty taels of silver for the food and personally gave him the three characters โ€œHuang Panโ€™erโ€ (Huang Panโ€™er), and the Wang family opened a restaurant called โ€œHuang Panโ€™er Wang Lunxing (็š‡้ฃฏๅ…’ ็Ž‹ๆฝค่ˆˆ).โ€ The emperorโ€™s marketing was a great success, and the fish head dish with tofu became the signature dish of...
