My fiancee and I came here last night for our wedding menu-tasting. Food is amazing in terms of both the taste and the look. Hugo and Calvin are super friendly and helpful. They were so patient in answering all our questions. They would even asked us whether we have any special request like more sauce/seasoning for certain dishes, how bright we want the lighting to be etc. We can really feel that we are in good hands. They are such a valuable asset of the restaurant! We ae very happy with the whole experience. Thank you very much! Review after the wedding: Both my husband and I can‘t be happier about our decision having verandah as our wedding venue. Gorgeous gorgeous venue, amazing food, super lovely, helpful and responsive staff. Everything went pretty smoothly. We did feel that we were always being very well taken-care of. It‘s what you need on your wedding day (a day that could be stressful otherwise!).

The service has been superb. Event staff is always very helpful, responsive, patient and accomodative. Even when the person-in-charge is on annual leaves, they always make sure there will be another staff who can answer our questions during the period. I got impressed at their service even on the wedding day. The waiter changed the position of my cutlery once he noticed I am left-handed. After the banquet, I got disappointed finding my half-finished dessert has been taken away while I was away to chat with people (I am a foodie lol), Hugo went to the kitchen and brought me a new plate of dessert! (Thank you Hugo!)

We have picked East meet West menu. A lot of the guests have complimented how tasty the food was. The only issue is the food serving time—it takes quite a long time for each dish to get served. Also, we have guests telling us the beef dish at certain tables have been overcooked (We know it’s cooked perfectly at some tables—My husband has really enjoyed the beef:P). Yet I guess its an issue that‘s hard to avoid at every restaurant when they are hosting a big event.

Another thing one should be aware of is that the internet signal in the bridal room is quite bad, which means I wasn’t able to communicate with my bridal party on whatsapp while I was in the room (can be inconvenient). Would appreciate it if wifi service can be provided in the bridal room to solve the issue:) On the other hand, pls make sure the speaker volume in high enough for guests at every table to hear the couple‘s speech. The banquet venue spacing is quite long, some guests told us they can’t hear what we said clearly (P.S. we used the speaker provided by the live band we arranged by ourselves).

Anyway—in general we are very thankful and happy to have had our wedding at Verandah. Very very pleased. A big thanks to Hugo,...

When one goes to The Verandah Repulse Bay Hotel for afternoon tea, we expect nothing less than 4 to 5 star service.

Nov 6, 2024, 3:30pm We were a party of 17 organized by a charity organization. The sandwich plates, the 3 tiers dessert and scone stand were quite impressive. The scones were on the dry side, beverages, butter, and jam arrived much later. Overall, I would still give four stars ratings on the food. Unfortunately, speaking for my family, the service was a major disappointment.

Since the food arrived long time before tea and coffee, and there was no water at the table. I went up to ask the server for a glass of warm water for my mother. The reply was we only have hot water and ice water, I said how about mixing some hot and cold water. Answer, you can have bottled water. Luckily, we happened to have a small thermos of water in our bag, Truly, I did not expect we have to bring our own. When the coffee and tea did arrive later, coffee was 80% hot, and water was not hot enough to steep the tea leaves.

There were 10 at our tables, I have no problem sharing 3 sets of butter and jam, but not with our used dinner knives and forks. There were no butter knives or spoons in our place settings, and none came with the butter and jam. We asked twice for butter knives and never got them.

Two people were sharing each dessert and scone stand, there were no side plates either, we had to use our sandwich plates. The dinner knives and forks are too big for afternoon tea, it was impossible to dish out the chocolate mousse inside the small glass bowl, we ended up eating with our coffee spoons.

No servers came around to check everything is OK, whether we need extra hot water for tea, or clear the dirty plates. When we got our ice cream at the end, we had to stack up each other’s sandwich plates to make room for the ice cream or put on top of the dirty plates. At times, there were no servers in sight to ask for anything.

The event was sponsored by an organization; we paid $756.80 by credit card on our own for two of the extra family members. On our way home, we received call from the event organizer, the restaurant said we have not paid, and we had to send the receipt for proof.

I hope this is an isolated incident, but it had tarnished our previous memories of the facility.

I do want to take the opportunity to express our sincere thank you for the generosity of the event sponsor and the caring of the volunteers. We enjoyed each...

My husband and I recently dined at your restaurant to celebrate his birthday, and we were absolutely blown away by the unforgettable experience—thanks to your incredible team.

A special thank you to Mr. Daniel, whose warm hospitality and personal touch made us feel so welcome. His thoughtful recommendations, including the signature lobster risotto(which was so divine we ended up having four bowls!), truly delighted us. We also appreciated his sharing about the restaurant’s heritage and its evolution from classic to contemporary while preserving its timeless values. His passion and attentiveness added so much depth to our afternoon.

We must also commend Mr. Marvis for his impeccable service. His professionalism, keen attention to our needs, and excellent wine-pairing suggestions showcased his expertise and sincerity. His presence made the afternoon even more seamless and enjoyable.

Additionally, Mr. Henry went above and beyond to make the birthday celebration extra special. The surprise of printing our photo immediately was such a lovely touch, and we will cherish that memory. His thoughtfulness truly elevated the occasion.

Last but certainly not least, we were honored to have a wonderful conversation with Chef Jordi Valles Claverol, whose talent and passion shine through in every dish. The lobster risotto was nothing short of spectacular, and his friendly, cheerful demeanor speaks volumes about the culture of excellence he fosters in the team. We have no doubt that under his leadership, the restaurant will continue to reach new heights.

From the exceptional food to the outstanding service, every detail of our afternoon was perfect. Thank you for making my husband’s birthday so memorable. We cannot wait to return and create more wonderful memories at The...

Beautiful colonial style restaurant that’s perfect to spend the afternoon if you are seeking a more refined setting. Took the in-laws for afternoon tea. This place is highly recommended if you want to impress out-of-owners who like a more refined experience of HK. If you’ve spent the last couple of days hiking, eating street food/dai pai dongs and shopping, this place offers a slower, comfortable afternoon to recuperate. Stunning views of the ocean, every inch of the place is aesthetic so your photo-crazy friends/family can go wild. There is an inner courtyard with supermarkets shops and seating with a small turtle/fish pond in the back. It’s a mini theme park for Instagrammers. The service was excellent. The staff explained everything to us without need to prompt. The whole show of the tea food coming out and the tea being poured with the mini sieve was fun. The food left a little to be desired. As a note, you cannot change the tea partway through to try different ones and you don’t get more food than what is provided. But that isn’t a problem as they give quite a lot. We were unable to finish everything. The scones weren’t that great but it’s hard to find good scones in HK anyways. The savoury bites weren’t decent but nothing that blew my mind. The desserts were visually interesting but flavours were simple. Some may call it bad and some may think it pairs perfectly with the tea and experience. It won’t be a flavourful experience but it will be unique. I recommend to people who want an interesting, uniquely Hong Kong experience. It’s not a 3 Michelin star experience and it’s not an Anthony Bourdain foodgasm journey in the back alleys of HK. It’s just a nice tea for family and friends to sit back and gossip for a couple hours.
