I specifically went to this bakery in Mui Wo to purchase some cookies and bread. I had ordered 6 packs of cookies 3 days in advance, and I had already made the payment and notified the owner that I would pick them up on the scheduled day. However, when I arrived at the store that afternoon and informed the staff about my order, they seemed completely unaware and said there was no record of it. After some negotiation, they provided me with 3 packs of available cookies and refunded the other 3 packs. The staff on duty showed no remorse; they merely said they would process the refund and displayed a lack of basic courtesy.
Later, I contacted the owner via WhatsApp to inform them about the situation, and all I received in response was that they would strengthen staff training. This experience was truly disappointing, and the service quality needs significant improvement.
In addition to the cookies, since I had made a special trip, I also bought a few pieces of bread and a coffee to enjoy on-site. Overall, the bread was quite tasty. While many people say the prices are high, I found them reasonable; however, if you are making a special trip to Mui Wo for this, it may not be worth it. As for the coffee, it was decent and paired well with the bread, but I wouldn’t consider it a must-have.
In summary, the product quality of this bakery is fairly good, but the service level needs enhancement. It’s worth a try, but it’s not a must-visit place. I hope they can improve their customer service...
Read moreI stopped here for an early lunch.
I got a capuccino and a simple turkey cheddar sandwich.
It was quiet weekday morning, so sandwiches are prepared by order. Staff mentioned that during the weekend they are prepared in advanced. There's no table service so order at the counter and as most small shops in the area is cash only.
They have a beautiful selection of cheeses, cold cuts, and prepacked dried fruit and nuts and also sell chilled wine, beer and non alcoholic beverages.
I also tried one of their doughnuts. I'm not a doughnut connoisseur but I enjoyed it. Fluffy, not greasy.
They could claim the record for the longest wifi password:...
Read moreVillage Bakery has been here for ages, probably longer as I only discovered when I went to mui wo. There is a good selection of cheeses in the cabinet. As well as cheese, they have cheesecakes as well. The small cheesecake is interesting, because the centre has caved liek Taiwanese semi baked cheesecakes. I went in for the Chocolate cranberry rye sourdough which looks like a huge scone. The sourdough was huge and heavy, it was delicious fresh and heated up because the cabinet has a heater keeping it warm. It was lovely and chewy with chocolate chips and cranberry giving it a delicious flavour, but the chocolate was a bit messy as I got melted chocolate all...
