As well as food in general, I love Vegetarian food.
When I found out about this joint, I decided to go and check it out even though there were no pictures on social media yet.
YEARS is located in SSP, the exact spot where NEW ORDER used to be.
Inside, you will find a modern setting and at the far end you will see cartons of OATLY on the shelf. Clearly the burger was my pick here because of the Impossible Patty which came with my favourite iced Earl Grey Tea without any extra charges.
I have had so many Impossible burgers so far which were all good but this one is my favourite because it is simple and not overwhelmed by strong sauces.
I got to taste the Impossible patty properly which was paired with delicious cheese, balsamic and arugula leaves which all worked in harmony.
The Impossible patty was definitely beefy in taste and texture, it reminded me of eating sweetbread as it was quite velvety yet it had a lovely crispy edge where it got seared.
The bun they sourced was a good one as it was soft and pillowly without any sweetness.
The fries were to my liking as they were crispy on the outside and starchy in the middle.
Finished with iced Earl Grey which made my day as it had a lovely fragrant aroma that was not artificial and I appreciate how it wasn't sweetened by default.
I look forward to coming back as I'm sure they will have some...
Read moreSince going green has become a trendy lifestyle in 852, there are more and more modern vegetarian restaurants that serve a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes other than traditional Chinese veggie meals. Years is a popular green restaurant in Sham Shui Po that targets young people.
Lunch menu is pretty comprehensive, from burgers to pasta to salad to Japanese dishes, you could definitely pick something to try if you are a first timer.
I chose this Portobello Mushroom Burger for the fries. Oh yes, most of the time I am targeting the fries when I order a burger :P The thick cut sweet potato fries were freshly fries, they were really good with the melted cheddar cheese flowing from the burger!
The burger itself was great too. The portobello mushroom was juicy and meaty; the black truffle mayonnaise made superb dressing to top up the flavour of the mushroom and whole burger.
Salad was good too. Even I am not a veggie person, the black vinegar made the salad quite enjoyable.
Lunch set came with a free iced earl grey tea, which was perfect to cool the...
Read moreCreative and interesting vegetarian and vegan options! The purple potato croquette was one of my favorite dishes I had, as it had bits of chestnut inside, and the kale salad it came with was delicious as well. Additionally, the tofu cheesecake was an unexpectedly creative take on the dessert, and while it didn’t taste close to cheesecake, it was really enjoyable.
I also had the omnipork cutlet with the curry risotto, and while the cutlet was not bad (slightly more enjoyable than the one at Green Common), the curry risotto didn’t feel so much as a risotto as it was rice cooked in curry.
In the past, I’ve also tried their burgers and tom yum pasta before, which were both very tasty as well! But they’re pretty comparable to other vegetarian burgers I’ve had elsewhere.
Edit (Mar 2021): I visited again, and I appreciate how they change up their menu so that there are always new things to try!
The charcoal burger was tasty though a bit difficult to eat because of its shape and contents. The pesto pasta...
