龍華脆皮燒乳鴿 Deep Fried Crisp and Juicy Pigeon "Lung Wah" Style = HKD98.00 馳名沙田滑鸡粥 Chicken Congee Sha Tin Lung Wah Style (2-3 Person) = HKD98.00 原味手造豆腐花 Silk Tofu Flower (1 Person Bowl) = HKD28.00

Mandatory Pot of Tea = HKD13.00 Service Charge = HKD24.00

The Place is not that easy to access and can be a little bit off the Beaten Path. The Restaurant itself is a Very Big Place. It looks so Lavish and Grandiose that I can't even imagine How Much Grander it must have been during its Golden Age in the 1960s - 1970s!

Inside the Main Dining Hall, you can see Photos of Many HK Celebrities visiting the Place and the Whole Place has a Very Classic 1960s Feel to it. This Place really felt like a Living Museum. Dining in here felt like I travelled back in time!

The Staffs are very Friendly and Welcoming.

There are 3 Dishes here which are apparently so famous, they're collectively known as "The Three Treasures of Sha Tin" 沙田三寶

龍華脆皮燒乳鴿 Deep Fried Crisp and Juicy Pigeon "Lung Wah" Style = HKD98.00

So according to some Sources, Lung Wah Hotel was supposedly the 1st Restaurant that Invented Roasted Pigeons!

I specifically requested them not to cut it into pieces. The moment I tore into the Pigeon, the Beautiful Juices flowed out immediately and it was so Delicious OMG!

The Skin is Not Super Crispy but has a More Lovely Roasted Texture which makes it lean more towards a Roast Duck sort of Skin. If you have never eaten Pigeons before, they have a Taste Profile that is Very Similar to Eating Duck. Pigeon Meat basically tastes like Duck Meat.

馳名沙田滑鸡粥 Chicken Congee Sha Tin Lung Wah Style (2-3 Person) = HKD98.00

This was a Super Big Pot meant for 2-3 People. Doesn't taste Overly Chickeny at all but does have a Noticeable Presence of Chicken Oil that teases you. Consistency of the Congee itself is Soft and Smooth like Ber and the only thing I could think of is how Elegant it tasted. I also detected a Very Faint Taste of Ginseng Tails within.

Within it are also 6 Thick Cut Pieces of Thigh and Breast Meats and they are Super Flavourful and Not Dry. Completely Smooth and Tender. There are also some Cabbage Slices which I reckon is to add a slight Veggie Crunch to offset the Softness of Everything in this Bowl.

This is a Very Atas Tasting Restaurant Standard Bowl of Chicken Congee.

原味手造豆腐花 Silk Tofu Flower (1 Person Bowl) = HKD28.00

This is of course a Dessert and while its Very Soft and Served Cold. Consistency is Very Close to Singapore Tauhuay. By Default, it already comes Sweet, but I feel the Sweetness is Very Very Light and Not Overly Sweet at all.

Whats unique about this Dish is an Additional Small Bowl of Sugar Syrup that has Pieces of 桂花 Osmanthus Flower Petals within. It really has a Very Distinct Floral Taste and adding this Syrup into the Taufufa really made it into a Very Elegant Tasting Floral Dessert.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts:

HKD261.00 (S$46.00) for Everything I've Eaten here is Absolutely Worth the Money for such High Quality Restaurant Standard Food.

Some Google Reviews though feel that the Food served here are Overated. But for me as a First Timer here, I thought they were all made at a very High Quality. I could taste that they use Real Premium Ingredients at least.

Eating at this place, you could also really get a sense of how Hong Kong used to feel like in the 1960s and 1970s. This place just oozes History from its Walls.

Being able to taste such Exquisite Dishes in such a Historical 86 years old Restaurant where Famous HK Movie Stars once visited in the past was certainly a Rare Privilege!

I also appreciated very much that the Staffs were so Friendly and made me feel very Welcome. It was truly an Exceptional Dining Experience. If you are ever here in Sha Tin 沙田, I Highly Recommend visiting this place!

In this life, it is rare to experience an establishment like Lung Wah Hotel. Indeed, it is the kind of place that owes much of its allure to both its individual history, and the history of Hong Kong itself. Perhaps it is the allure of Bruce Lee that brings you here, or the temptation of experiencing something truly local. Either way, no matter who you are or where you come from, it is important that you visit.

We ate a simple meal here, drank large beers and tea. The banquet hall was nearly empty, which was unsettling only because we knew that this place is built to be filled to brim. You can see the layers of history steeped as thoroughly as the tea we drank along the walls, meaning that it took little imagination to visualize what it looked like in its hayday.

After our meal, Marifé took us around the grounds, where we saw the walls of instruments (numerous pianos, violins, basses, cellos) that were beckoning to be played. She showed us the smaller banquet rooms, the museum, even the peacocks that lived on site. She was incredible, welcoming us into this warm environment and showing us its historical, innate beauty.

In brief: you must visit the Lung Wah Hotel. It is more than a place to eat—it is a journey through space and time, which at the end leaves you with the sense of gratitude that you trekked out to visit. Without places such as these, there is simply less joy in life. It is worth it—more so, it is necessary to respect them, and open your heart to them. Thank you to everyone who made us feel at home! And I hope you, dear reader, feel the same way as we did when you take the time from your day to retrace...

This was my 3rd time to dine in this restaurant. The experience was awful. They only received cash and could not split bill. In this era, I was so surprised with that request. The waitresses were not helpful at all but trying to get rid of the responsibility. I dined with 2 elderlies and the ventilation was bad. I requested to turn on the fan but got rejected and they claimed that there was another table with elderly who could not bear with cold ventilation. The so-called famous baby pigeon served with cold and slurpy prawn crackers. If you are a tourist, this is a good place to post on IG. But the food, NAHHHHHH! The service, NAHHHHHHHHH this is not a recommended place for you to dine in!

This place has a long history (since 1938?) and my cousins and parents have all come to this place when they were younger. It's not the cleanest place to eat but you can't expect much from hk restaurants unless you're at a 5 star place anyway. We especially ordered the roasted pigeons and the taste was great! Usually the taste stays only on the skin but I could taste it even in the meat. We also ordered the chicken congee too. It was very tasty; usually I don't like congee because it's too plain but there's flavour in this one. It's quite a bit of walking to get to this place, it might have been cuz we parked far but I didn't see any parking nearby.
