Wai Po Jia 外婆家 is a classic Shanghainese restaurant that preserves the traditional way of cooking. They are quite spectacular and amazingly famous in Shanghai. Most of my friends and family who spent time in Shanghai told me to try it out, and so I did. When I got there, I spent 1.5 hours waiting for them to open. If I didn’t do that I won’t be able to enter right away since they have an online booking system that I don’t have access to, being a tourist and all. Their menu have english translation next to it so you won’t have to worry about ordering. As most of you will find out, their pork dish are so good, it’s something that you don’t find everyday. Their beef dish is great and definitely soft than what I expected. The price for their menu for a nice atmospheric clean restaurant in Shanghai is actually pretty fair. Definitely a favorite of Shanghainese, it’s just the line and waiting time is pretty crazy.
