Pleasant Surprise. Excellent Food and willing service. Recommended by our hotel, Fraser Residence Shanghai as we were looking for late dinner after arriving around 8 pm. When first entered, it was challenging or even scary as we went through interesting entrance then take lift to 6F. Then we went into reception, NO ONE spoke English. But our smiley face worked even though our hostess looked quite confused why we were there. :) Prepare to bring out Google translator and some interesting hand gestures. :) Good thing was they have excellent English menu with good pictures and descriptions and we ordered crispy duck, prawn, scallop, abalone, short ribs, vegetables, mango pudding, and drinks/tea costed around AUD 150. I though it was good value for family of 4. So we went back again for the last night in Shanghai.

The river cruise on the Bund made us all hungry. We proceeded to this Michelin starred seafood restaurant. We took the lift up. The restaurant is divided in small rooms for privacy and we were ushered into one. The food was good. I was so famished that I forgot to take individual photos of the dishes and the others that came after which were not on this photo. We had steamed fish and Shanghai's signature dish- Braised Pork with Steamed Buns. The room decor is elegant but needs upkeep and has its own toilet. It has a power outlet too that I used to charge my phone. Service was fast. Note: The building where the restaurant is located is very old.

The food is great especially Roasted duck and their signature beef. Service is really very bad. The waiter that serve us have really bad attitude. When asked which is their signature dishes. He just pointed out all the dishes in the first 3 pages (OK nevermind, maybe that is all their signature dishes). Since it is our first time dining here, it is normal if we took 3-5min to look through the menu and decide which one to order but his attitude is definitely showing that he is rushing us. We arrive around 8:30pm and the restaurant close at 9:30pm. When we are about to finish our meal, we are shoved with the bill and after we pay the bill, some of the lighting at the restaurant are switched off and the manager have been sitting next to our table since then making us feel that it is time to leave the reastaurant. We finished our dinner around 9:15 and when leave, there are still 2 more table dining and I can hear noises coming from one of their vip rooms (I did not notice the manager or waiter rushing them). A good dining experience spoilt by such bad service and attitude. My suggestion if want to try this restaurant DO NOT dine in this huangpu branch. There are other...
