Enjoyed this over another chain of shops named XY. Mechanical emotionless cashier takes my order and verbally directs me to the 2 different food pick up points. Preferred the meat dumplings over the crab roe infused ones. Must remember to do as the locals do, drench these babies in the local special vinegar before popping them into the mouth. 3mm thick pork chops overly breaded and fried to a crisp has the locally brewed worcestershire soya sauce to thank. Favourite part of the meal, little pork dumpling's soup. Concocted from pork lard, MSG, spring onion poured over with boiling hot cooking liquid... Mmmmm Very carb heavy filling meal.

Pan Fried Crab Meat Double Combo, Old Shanghai Three Silk Spring Roll and Large Vegetable and Meat Wontons . Fried xiaolongbao bit too dry and no soup left inside 😭 taste also bland and relying based ok the vinegar only While spring rolls are crunchy and flavorful 👍🏻 Wonton having much better taste and comforting soup base but skin bit too thick for me 😞 . #shanghaifood #shanghaifoodies #dahuchun #michelin #michelinguide #michelinguidefood #friedxiaolongbao #crabxiaolongbao #meatxiaolongbao

Seems like an institution, and good for a brief in/put snack or light meal. Order and pay at cashier, go to the respective bun / wonton / pork chop counter to pick up, gather your cutlery opposite the cashier then find a table. The shengjianbao or pan fried buns had a nice crusty bottom (all-pork ones were better than the crab-pork buns), but they are a bit light on filling. Wontons are dainty, skins a little thick. Found the spring rolls a little sparse on filling too.

Fast food fried dumplings, good enough for Apple CEO Tim Cook to visit apparently, according to photos on the wall. The wraps are bready, crispy and thick, and insides a refilled with juicy ground meats. The soup is simple with a taste that somewhat resembled curry to me. The ordering area in the front was busy and tables were full, but because it’s somewhat of a fast food experience, we had no trouble getting a seat. A good quick meal.

This is a good place to taste the local dessert. Delicious but not expensive. It's better to order the bun and the beef soup together. Not far from the Metro station Dashijie Stop. Nearby you can find other dessert shops. For more details, follow my twitter @ jerryshanghai I am a local tour guide with car driving service.

The ancestor of XiaoYang specializing in pan fried buns. The buns here are made of fully risen dough, so the wrap is thicker and less soupy. Just a different variety from XiaoYang. The quality of the meat filling is better. And I recommend to stick with the all pork filling. The one with shrimp is not as good.
