MASQUERADING MECURE . When booking a hotel via the Accor group (which we have a membership) , our expectation was that the hotel would follow the same standards , breakfast selection + have reception staff working with a reasonable level of English. No staff at the hotel (reception) spoke any English . ALL of our communication with them was via WECHAT APP and a Translation APP. Total change from 10 years ago, when I visited Mercure Shanghai. Rooms are very small, be careful when doing your booking - you might get the room without a window , or. Inward facing (facing a wall). The walls seem as if they were made out of cardboard (or even paper), as you can hear every thing that goes on very clearly from up, down , left and right! Rightfully and fittingly , complimentary earplugs are provided . The beds are super comfortable , as are the pillows . Thankfully (to the earplugs), we got a very good sleep both nights. We ate the breakfast buffet one of the mornings, only cleaning staff are there. Other than that , it’s pretty much a free for all. No one greets you, no one checks your name on the guest list. In conclusion. The staff did their best to be accommodating . Late checkout was provided. The hotel should be rebranded to a local hotel, focussing on local tourism . It is not an international hotel following the international brand and standards any more. Honestly, this is a 3 start hotel at most. No discredit to the staff - who clearly do their best.

**I FOUND HAIR IN MY BREAKFAST!!** unpolite staff, and only one or two can little bit speak english. The room was terible, even quote new, but there is no window, only fake/dummy window. this is the 1st time ever i have stayed in this kind of hotel. the breakfast time shall be open from 06.00-10.00 AM, in fact, they just open on 06.30/07.00. and the worst thing is, i havw found HAIR in my breakfast!! VERY DISGUSTING!!! they didnt even asking for apologize, but make many reasons. they said, our chef is MEN so the hair must be coming from hotel Guest!! There are many women staff in the kitchen WITHOUT Hair cover! how they vsn blamed the hotel quests?? without think twice, i have decided to checked out from the hotel, even actually i have booked for 10 days, and i havw checked out in days 6. still one more problem with this hotel. since the day i was checked in, i said to hotel staff, to open the bill with my credit card ans do not charge all in advanced. there always possibility that i would checked out anytime. but the insist to charge me in advanced and prommised that they will refund in tje same days if i checked out bwfore days 10. when at the end i would checked out in the days 6, in the beginning they refused to refund the money in the same days, but 2 Weeks. after make some debate, at end the they want to refund in cash. i think this hotel is really not suitable for foreigners.

Not so expensive and rooms were just renovated so looking nice !. I got a first room very quiet but with view on another wall. Second stay I got a room facing main road and it was quite noisy from the traffic at night to sleep. Bad point for the breakfast which is very limited with no window. And also there is no bar in the hotel so you cannot do any business meeting. There is no room service and no restaurant. Lucky there is mall just across the street for you to have dinner or coffee. Very well located for the Yu Garden and can walk to the buns within 20min. Good hotel for holidays I guess but not so good for business travel even if the rooms are nice

Not really a good experience staying in this hotel as the housekeeping office is just opposite my room. Hence there was one time when I opened my room, immediately I saw three housekeeping carts was parking along the hallway outside my door. Imagine when you open the hotel room door, the first thing you see is the housekeeping carts, and the terrible part is not just one cart, there were three carts parking side by side there. So I have to squeeze through when I wanted to walked from my room to the lift, and I still have to hold my son tight so that he would not accidentally touch the carts, especially on the area when the housekeeper throw the trash. Also, the housekeeping aunty is talking “excitedly” amongst themselves early in the morning (as my room was just opposite their housekeeping office), their voice has wake me up 😓😓Also, everyone out there pls take note, the review for this hotel may not genuine as the receptionists on duty would ask you to give the review in your booking website on the spot when you checked out. When you refuse and said you will give the review later, the receptionists would not give up and would persistently request you to give the review on the spot and to take a photo of the hotel as evidenced that we have provided a review. I then told him off that I was not satisfied with my stay in their hotel, only then the male receptionist stop asking me on this. But to be fair to this hotel, other than the housekeeping cart issues and the act of seeking good review from the Guest, the rest are okay for me, especially the bellboy/hotel porter who helped to carry my luggage to my room when I checked in and carry my luggage to taxi when I checked out. I really must say that’s the the best service which I have received so far throughout my 13 days stay in various hotel in Shanghai and Hangzhou. Thumb up to the uncle to help me on the luggages. Really appreciate it. This is the only thing that I like...

It was my first time traveling to Shanghai with my family and I am awed by the service and the cleanliness of the hotel. It wasn’t easy traveling with seniors and kids, and I’m extremely glad that we chose this hotel in the end. The service was incredible the moment we stepped in. They were patient in answering all of our enquires. Even though the hotel is not near to a few attractions such as Nab Jing Lu, there’s a shuttle service that will bring you there, including bringing you to other attractions such as The Bund and Yu garden. There’s also a mall just opposite the hotel, you only need to cross the overhead bridge. Even though we stayed at the 3rd floor, we can’t really hear the noises on the outside. The room is clean, the water heater is working and I really enjoyed the rain shower. Though the hotel no longer provide toiletries, you can still request for them at the reception. The receptionist was so kind to also provide kids slippers for my niece. She’s so cute wearing them around. The hotel provides decent breakfast buffet. There isn’t a lot of variety but it was good enough. We only took their breakfast on the last day of our trip because come on, we are in Shanghai. Just go out and have fun and eat their local food. Unless of course you’re on a short business trip. Overall, I would give this hotel 10 stars if I could. Will I go back again? Of course I will if I were to visit Shanghai again. Thank you Mercure for the wonderful trip. My family and I truly enjoy our trip. Till...
