First time having Teochew/Chao Shan Beef hot pot. What’s different with chao shan hot pot is that it features fresh beef, hand sliced. The meat is only cooked 6-8sec in a clear bone broth. The meat was extremely fresh and tender, and the beef meatballs were just out of this world. Extremely juicy and so bouncy. We got 2 different hot pot bases, the bone broth, and the other a spicy and numbing chilli broth. The spicy broth was interesting as it comes as a stir fry with potatoes, lotus root, and beef tendons etc. You eat the meat and veggies and after that, the servers top it up with broth where you can now enjoy the hotpot. We ordered little Spicy but it was still quite spicy for me, but very tasty regardless.
There is a standard sauce bar with many different condiments, but it is recommended you add the shacha 沙茶 sauce to your mix as this is a chao shan specialty.
