Very disappointing - rude and untrained staff

It was our second time going to this restaurant. We came back again because of the friendly service, the vibe and the food. We were to spend our time here on my birthday.

But this time we were greeted by waitresses with a mainland accent. It’s not a problem except those waitresses had no idea what they were doing. 🙄 It looked like they weren’t properly trained at all. We were surrounded by 3-5 of them when we ordered. I felt very awkward with them constantly commenting on our choices. 「食粉啊你？」「無包wor呢個」I felt like I just walked into a 譚仔, not a top rated Italian restaurant. It wasn’t a pleasant experience.

We ordered a vegetarian pizza and pasta. It was amazing. But as we proceeded to order a mojito, the manager/waiter treated as if we were kids. Saying 「得唔得㗎? 有酒精㗎wor」

Mind you we are in our 20s already. Last time we came, we ordered a beer. It was nice, no questions asked, no silly jokes.

We ordered five set meals but when we returned home, we noticed from the receipt that they had charged us two extra set meals and a drink. We called the restaurant and they told us to take the receipt back to get the refund. However, we live a long way from Tai Mei Tuk. It will take us 1.5 hrs to travel to the restaurant by public transport and another 1.5 hrs to go back home which will be 3 hrs altogether, not to mention the transport cost. I suggested that we sent the receipt to them by WhatsApp and then they refunded us by Payme. I am glad that they finally refunded us late that night and the problem was resolved.

It’s the second time that I visited this restaurant. Though the portion is a bit small, the food is fine and I like the atmosphere with the old English songs as background music. Next time when I visit Tai Mei Tuk, I think I will...

The worst ever eatery we have ever dined in HK. We were tricked by photos of Spanish suckling pig, posted along the veranda, thinking that it would not be too bad. We were absolutely wrong! This was not a trust worthy shop either. We ordered double burgers with chips, for $98 a serving plus service charge, but we’re served each with a single slice of awfully minced substance that tasted nothing like beef. We couldn’t touch glasses of water because both glasses were not clean, with obvious residues of milky stuffs hanging on their walls.
