McDonald's (Tai Wo Plaza) — Restaurant in Tai Po District

This particular McDonald's location is probably one of the worst I've visited in Hong Kong.

When I lived in the area I would visit this McDonald's on my way home nightly. The service is hit or miss. I speak English, Cantonese, and Mandarin fluently, so there is no language barrier.

Some nights, even though it's supposedly a 24 hour McDonald's, they say that they're closing early, and that they're only accepting cash. That's no problem as I usually have cash on hand for instances such as these. Furthermore, depending on the time of day, the place may look like a disaster. In Hong Kong at McDonald's and other fast food restaurants people don't throw away their food wrappers and trash after they have finished eating, they just leave it on the table until a worker comes and throws it away for them even though the trash bucket is a few feet away. If the McDonald's get s busy or backed up the restaurant quickly fills up with trash on almost every open table. I came in there several nights to a restaurant full of trash that hadn't been thrown away yet with nobody cleaning up.

Furthermore, they don't make food when you order it anymore. They make it in advance to beat the rush resulting in cold french fries but hot burgers, or both cold fries and cold food as soon as you get it. McDonald's food doesn't taste good cold, especially the french fries, so it's essentially inedible as soon as they hand it to you.

The worst is the way that they staff talk to eachother and the customers. I'm no prude, but the screaming and DLLMs that I hear being said among the staff is a bit too much. I couldn't care less if the staff are polite to me, but they seem to just hate life in general as well as their job at McDonald's.

I'd like to say that McDonald's as a whole has become a lot worse in Hong Kong over the past few years. Back in 2016 the food was always fresh and the staff were polite. I know Hong Kong has gone through a lot in the past few years and I'm just sad to see how the service has...

Worst experience with a McDonald. Very unhygienic. Cleaning lady pulled out every bin and left in them all in the middle of the aisle wide opened and you can see flys hovering around it!! Used the trays to ram the rubbish down… Bit concerning with the fact the customers uses these trays to carry food!! And the toilets are disgusted with marked on the walls and I’m not going to say what! They closed of the party area by locking one side of the door and then blocking that other side making awkward to carry you order through and that’s not even mentioning health and safety! I recently visited McDonald's and ordered a McFlurry, but unfortunately, it came with just ice cream and Oreo toppings without mixing them together. I was disappointed with the presentation and lack of attention to detail. Mixing the toppings into the ice cream is what makes a McFlurry special and enjoyable.
