Authentic Italian Pizza in Ma Wan Little Mario's has managed to combine authentic Italian pizza with some interesting toppings (e.g. Chicken tikka curry & jalapeño; paneer & mushroom masala). After having Friday night drinks, I came home totally hungry and I knew there was only one solution to my problem --- Little Mario's pizza! Coz they are tasty and are delivered fairly quickly. Couple of my friends also shared the same sentiment so we placed a rather large order (my third order from Little Mario's in as many weeks). We placed the order for delivery via WhatsApp (also available for pick-up).
While the Truffle & Mushroom Pizza is my all time favorite on their menu, followed by the Italian Sausage Pizza.... there were also some other interesting toppings on the menu that caught my eye. These were the 1) Chicken tikka & jalapeño Pizza and 2) Paneer (cottage cheese) & Mushroom Masala Pizza. Since we've only had these two as curries in the past (at Indian restaurants, of course), we were intrigued to see how they would taste in the form of pizza toppings.
So, we ordered those two pizzas (14 inch). We also ordered the butter chicken curry and some garlic naan breads. The order was delivered at my door in around 25-30 mins. We were starving and the whole thing smelled so good...that we dug into those pizzas right away
I'd say the Chicken Tikka Pizza IS A MUST HAVE, IF one is looking for a spicy topping
The Chicken tikka flavor and jalapeño blended perfectly on this pizza.
Paneer (cottage cheese) & Mushroom Masala Pizza was also pretty good. The paneer pieces were tender and the spiciness was optimum... not as much as the chicken tikka pizza. I could order this one again sometime in future.
The butter chicken curry was pretty good too... though it may not be able to upstage the ones from some authentic Indian restaurants across Hong Kong. It's certainly worth trying. As expected, it was rich in flavor and oily so had to spend extra hours in the gym next day.
For me, Little Mario's is now the top choice for pizza.....even when compared to the mainstream pizza...
Read moreFood is good with reasonable price but hospitality is real BAD. The 0-star is for the service. We were a party of 4 and there was only one table occupied at the time we walked in. We chose to sit at the table by the window which was supposed to be for 8+ people. The waiter asked if we could sit at the sofa table far at the back “in case” there are guests coming in a big group. But there are plenty other EMPTY big tables at the time. We told him we would only be there for an hour or so for eating and would not occupy the table for a long time. The waiter gave in. The restaurant was only at most 30% occupied the whole time we were there. Towards the end of our meal, there was another group of 6+ people coming and the waiter asked us AGAIN if we could move our table. Obviously, there were a couple other empty big tables available. I told him we were finishing up our food which may only take another 5 mins and then we would leave. I looked at my watch and we only took 50 mins for our lunch. Good food can definitely be found elsewhere but its poor hospitality ruined the...
Read moreI know people often review with a picture of their food, but I thought a picture of my empty plate would be even better. I ordered their burger.
At over 150hkd it isn't cheap, at that price range you expect something perfect, and I'm pleased to say they delivered. The bun, the meat, the setup of the burger was perfect. I'm an American and for those of you who don't know there's a lot that goes into a decent hamburger. The meat was fatty but not too fatty, the cheese melted, the lettuce and pickles crisp, the bun tasted fresh like they make their own and was robust and didn't fall apart. The fries were crunchy and fresh as well.
If you plan to visit ma wan, I highly recommend eating at marios. Their service and food are not only among the best on ma wan, but the best in Hong kong. I've eaten at butchers club, shake shack, five guys, and I'm telling you...
