Outback Steakhouse (Yuen Long) — Restaurant in Yuen Long District

I like Outback a lot for their lunch sets, but I have a feeling that the quality of the food and service has declined somewhat over the years. The Outback in YOHO is quite new, and because of the location it is often quite crowded. We've had waiting times of over one hour. If you don't mind a late dinner, going after 8.30~9.00 make a it easier to get a seat.

But because it is often crowded, this outlet tends to be quite noisy. The service is also a bit erratic and could be improved.

I find the food ok, most of the time. The Mango Chicken salad is one of my favorites, as well as their fillet cut. Last time I ordered the NY strip, medium rare. It was perfect on one half, but the thicker end was way undercooked and barely edible. I left around 1/4 of the steak uneaten, but this was a first for me.

Also, unlike in other branches, the drink refills are quite slow, and we had to ask several times on more than one occasion.

We had the lunch time set menu which has some nice bread and ok soup to start. Very watery Ice lemon tea with main course. We ordered the pasta (bolognese) which was very tasty with a nice amount of sauce. But we made the mistake of ordering the burger which was very flat, like something out of a frozen supermarket pack. Worse still, the chef had thrown in enough salt and pepper to season about 6 burgers. The fries were also too salty to eat. I left most of them. The chef is clueless about seasoning. As for the burger, easily the worst one I have ever eaten. Tried them again 5 months later for lunch set. Pasta was ok. But the barramundi fish was completely overcooked, totally dry. The kitchen still seems robe getting away with...

Ribeye steak was extremely poor: asked for medium rare but was cooked to medium standard, steak was not seasoned properly so was bland, when the steak arrived it was lukewarm and had no steak flavour.

The sides: Aussie fries were refried fries (never been to Australia so not sure if it's meant to be this way) and the coleslaw was not fresh and you could tell just by looking at it.
