Asados La 80 — Restaurant in Medellín

4.9999999999999! I just don't have the experience to give it five stars. It's always tough picking the first restaurant in a new place. I passed a lot of places that just didn't feel right. Then I stumbled upon Asados La 80.

It's spacious, airy, and green. It echoes the initial feeling Medellín delivers as you descend into the valley. It's almost a Feng Shui sensation, witnessing an entire city built in a jungle valley. When you eat here, you kinda forget you're in the middle of the city.

The food selection is great. It has a ton of traditional dishes from a lot of places in South America, it's not just Columbian. As a matter of fact, it really made me realize how unique Mexican food is in comparison. The food here definitely highlights the use of fruits and vegetables in meals. The Mexicans say it's "más botánica."

Also, in a strange turn of events, the service was more attentive than I've come to expect in most Latin American countries. The servers all have tablets, circle tables frequently, and know how to up-sell meals (That's how I ended up ordering steak 🥩).

Combined with a solid beer, wine, and liquor selection this place is a must visit. It's easy to access, family's friendly, and they look at you like a local when you order coffee after a meal.

I almost feel guilty about not being able to give them five stars now, but if I can't find anything else that compares, expect me to update...

We went here for dinner as we saw a very good review and we're quite disappointed. The meat I ordered was excellent but that's unfortunately the only positive point. The fish of my partner was covered with a thick cheese sauce and really not good. The sides where also not up to par with what we expected. The service was attentive but took my plate away and asked me if I wanted to order a dessert albeit my partner was still eating her main dish. This is absolutely not the respect I expect when going to a higher...

The food is okay , I have been doing to this location for over 8 years . I do enjoy the Patacón con hogado y guacamole, but the cazuela de frijoles was okay . Mostly cause it tasted super sweet , not like typical Colombian beans . My husband got La trucha and he enjoyed it . The location was good because we were in the area and I do usually come to this location . This resturant is more pricy than others or than local spot I recommend if your in medallion go local .
