Let me tell you about my recent adventure at El Cangrejo Loco de Cahiuta, or as I like to call it, "The Crazy Crab that's Not So Crabby." 🦀
First off, can we talk about the name? It's "The Crazy Crab," but guess what? They don't even sell crab dishes! It's like calling a pizzeria "The Flying Fish" – you're in for some surprises! 😂 But hey, I love surprises, so I was totally on board.
From the moment I stepped in, I knew this place was special. It's got that laid-back, beachy vibe that screams "Pura Vida!" The staff here are like your long-lost friends who just happen to be amazing at serving food. They're super friendly, and they make you feel right at home.
Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, the food! Even though they don't do crabs, their menu is a treasure trove of deliciousness. I dove headfirst into their seafood selection, and it was like a flavor explosion in my mouth. The fish was fresh, the flavors were bold, and every bite was a mini-vacation for my taste buds. If you're into seafood, you're in for a treat!
And can we please give a shoutout to their limonada? Whoever's mixing those drinks is an artist. I sipped on a few while enjoying the the company of our friends from the tour, and it was pure relaxation in a glass.
The atmosphere here is just perfect. You've got the sound of the waves in the background, the sea breeze in your hair, and a plate of deliciousness in front of you. What more could you ask for?
So, despite the crab-less experience at El Cangrejo Loco de Cahiuta, I can honestly say it was one of the craziest good times I've had in a while. Friendly folks, amazing food, and a view that's worth its weight in gold. If you're in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and pay these "crazy" folks a visit. You won't...
Read moreCannot recommend I'm afraid. Don't know what all the raving reviews are about but our experience was mediocre at best. We could choose from pizza's or burgers. We chose the burgers. We got some fries, no sauce and a burger bun with a knife in it to hold it together. No additional cutlery. The bun was dry. The chicken was ok, the beef undercooked. The burger had no lettuce, pickles or anything inside, just a tomato slice and some union rings. For 10 dollars each, we've found places in town where the food is a lot better. The cocktails were cheap, but also tasted that way (strong, not very subtle, no garnishing). The staff and lady were nice, no comments there. Most telling was that when the owner was eating from a takeaway bowl and not the food from his own kitchen. We can...
Read moreRead moreWell, this was our last evening in Costa Rica. And after 4 weeks of traveling, this was probably the worst restaurant. I had the burger, which looked sad and the taste was so-so. Potatoes with it - tasteless. My girlfriend had the fish, which came with the wrong sauce and the fish was just tasteless. Smoothies were good though. When we arrived it looked nice, 5 min in and the "DJ" set up some speaker next to us - and despite us telling her to not blast the "music" right at us, she did... we changed the table... she turned the music up more and more. Well, all in all experience - service wrong, food nothing special, "music" annoying. - go...
