This was a beautiful surprise near Punta Uva. We were looking for a nice hot meal on a rainy day in Puerto Viejo, Limon. All of the roads were flooded and it looked like all of the restaurants were closed and we didn't want to cook today. We initially stopped at Gypsea because we heard music and saw some lively, beautiful people inside. We were happily greeted by the owner. I truly enjoyed his energy. It was quite refreshing on this gloomy day. He let us know that he was closed for the day but his brother owned the pizzeria next door and he walked us over. He introduced us to his brother and a server came and introduced himself and allowed us to choose a table. The menu had many great anti-pastas, soups and pizza options to choose from. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I am vegan and my daughter is not. We have been staying in hotels and a whole pizza would have been a waste of money. Our server was communicative and very nice and explained that we could do of the pizza vegan and they also had vegan cheese. This was great for us. The pizza was prepared nicely and it was evenly split. The vegetables were fresh and treated with care. I was glad they had garlic oil and chilli pepper oil on the table to add to the experience. This pizza was very delicious. You can tell the chef has a real love for food. We each had our fill and saved a slice for later on. The pizza was excellent, I feel like I thanked the chef too much but I wanted him to know how much we appreciated the food and the experience. I would recommend La Leyenda to anyone visiting Puerto Viejo and we will be visiting again soon to try more on the menu.

This is some of the best pizza you can get in Costa Rica! I travel to CR multiple times a year and I love searching for the best pizza wherever it is I find myself. Jaco, Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Puerto Jiménez, La Fortuna, San José— you can find decent pizza in all of those places but they will never compare to the fresh and flavorful pizzas of La Leyenda. We have just returned to Puerto Viejo (we were here in March) and we will be here a month and we have already visited our friends at La Leyenda four times. The margaritas are strong and very good. The salads are fresh and tasty! The bruschetta is incredible! I tried the chef’s pizza roll during my last visit and WOW it was packed with so much flavor! The owner is incredibly welcoming and makes a concerted effort to welcome and accommodate every guest. If you are visiting the area, La Leyenda is a MUST!

Very very good pizza and nice garden where you sit. BUT: The whole evening they played techno and electro music. So you're going there to enojoy a nice italian dinner and what you get is techno music and the feeling of sitting in a techno disco. This ruined our whole evening. Besides that it's a bit overpriced. We paid more than 50$ for 2 pizzas and drinks... If you look at the reviews of some other guests and how the owner responded you'll see that he's not interested in feedback at all but makes fun of the guests. This is very unprofessional so think twice before going here.

I arrived there at an odd hour, and perhaps was one of the first guests that had a late lunch or early dinner. However, when entering the restaurant everyone greeted me nicely with a big smile and provided great hospitality. I got excited eating a pizza there, because the wood oven delivered an amazing charcoaled and woody aroma. Once I saw the menu, I immediately knew what I wanted, which was a pizza roll (almost like a calzone) called the Del Chef! A four cheese pizza, with tomato, arugula, speck, honey an balsamic sauce. My beverage was an IPA, which was really good too. When the waitress brought my beer, the beer was a little bit emptier than the proper serving size and told me to enjoy the beer for a few moments. Truly, I wasn’t to sure what she meant by that. Oh well, I didn’t care too much. Minutes later, after I took several big sips from the beer, they refilled my beer to the proper serving size. That was awesome that they did that. Once my pizza arrived, I wanted to s0lit in half and eat one half now and the other later. Well that did not happen. I ate the whole pizza, because the flavors were beyond amazing! It made me beyond happy with a big smile. Towards the end they gave me a limoncello shot, which was truly enjoyable. My conclusion is that I love pizza, and it is quite the challenge to find really good pizza in this country. However, I must say that this pizza from La Leyenda de L’Antico Forno is one of the top 3 best pizza places that I have been to in Costa Rica. Thank you for the great food and hospitality!

Cheers...
