This was an amazing experience! I am a sort of beginner (I have been taking English riding lessons for about half a year.) I will say that if you are used to riding with a bit, you might have some difficulties communicating with the horse. For example I perceived to be pulling back very hard and the horse I was riding did not slow down that much if at all 😂 I think the horses also seem to follow what the one in front of them is doing more than responding to your actual cues. That being said, it was just different, not necessarily a bad thing, just something to note and keep in mind for maneuvering around obstacles in the jungle you will need to use a lot of leg. It was a bit of a challenge to get the horses to maintain proper spacing as me and the other people on the tour had some difficulties maneuvering the horses. But everything was ok, no one kicked or bit. Our tour guide Anastasia was amazing and she did give us the opportunity to trot and canter on the beach. She was also very knowledgeable and pointed out many plants and animals on our tour, as well as giving many recommendations for things to do around the area. The scenery was just like a dream....

We decided to go with Prancing Pony (also known as Ride The Rainforest) and we are soooo happy we made this decision. Kristy was a dream to be with, I have been around horses growing up and I took my 12 year old daughter who is a learning rider. I put a lot of trust in those teaching our children, my 8 year old went too. We returned many times and I even let my daughter go alone with Kristy... she taught her to gallop! Such a magical experience on the beach and we’re pleased we went with a smaller set up rather than the bigger riding companies... support the little guys peeps.

The horses are so loved and looked after, they have Reiki regularly by Kris so they are super calm. We have made a friend with Kris and would love to return one day to see her and the horses. Absolutely 5 stars and I hope anyone reading this books too, check out the pics we took of the beautiful horses and foal at...

Ride the Rainforest in Costa Rica was an amazing experience ! I appreciate them so much, within a 2 day notice. They booked myself and my girlfriend. I mentioned I wanted to propose during our horseback ride next to the ocean. They were extremely helpful, and gave me a ton of advice on what to do! She went above and beyond and got us some champagne and even hired a local to provide us with handmade flower arrangements ! She even had a photographer ready at the site where I was to propose ! I am extremely grateful for the experience . Riding the horses was magical , right next to the ocean and jungle . We saw 8+ sloths, monkeys and more ! Our guide was educating us on what plants and trees are native . We loved the experience and are extremely grateful for...

Our horseback riding adventure with Ismael was one of the BEST parts of our Costa Rican honeymoon. Walking through the jungle and then galloping along the seashore was unforgettable. It is NOT a Disney World kind of ride. You're ACTUALLY riding, going under trees and navigating the terrain. That may scare some people, but I LOVED that we were doing a real horseback ride, including sprinting freely along the water. Ismael was a great guide. He made sure we had everything we needed, which allowed us to relax and be in the moment. The horses were very even tempered and sweet (miss you, Blacksocks). If I get back to Puerto Viejo, this would be one of the very first things I'd sign up to do again.

This experience was the highlight of our trip. We had such a great time. I have a couple boys aged five and seven and they did really great on their own horses (the guides helped them by walking next to them with the horse). The main guide (Ishmael), was super friendly. We took the horses to the beach, and through the jungle. We saw a Sloth, monkeys, Golden-orb-weaver spiders (which the guide picked up and showed us are harmless, the whole thing was super fun and my kids won't stop talking about it. I highly recommend it.
