Brisket? Nope. Dry pulled pork? Yup. Cornbread on the menu? Nope. Tepid Mac with no flavor? Yup. Bar tender with some manners? Nope. Vinegar slaw in a platter? Yup.

BBQ sauce locked up? Yup. Only two for the whole spot? Yup. Steak or beans, you dreamin’? Nope. Ribs and hush puppies, they leanin’? Nope.

Lazy dude at the bar? Yup. Keeps my tab in his jar? Nope. Street peddler tryin’ to sell? Yup. BBQ hell? Yup.

Sides weak, this ain’t right (Yup). Bland chicken every bite (Nope). No smoke, no fire, no pride (Yup). This ain’t the BBQ ride (Nope).

Hook: Chancho ain’t got no choices, I choose to waste money since there ain’t no cornbread. Sides so bad I’m voiceless, Mac tepid, slaw gross, man, I feel so misled.

Wow, such a great experience! We stopped by for drinks on our way to the beach early in the day and instantly loved the vibe—and the owner—so we had to come back for the BBQ. We ordered the ribs, chicken wings, sides, and all the sauces, and everything was incredible. The ribs fell off the bone, the chicken wings were super juicy and the spicy white capsicum sauce (which they make in house) was absolutely to die for—perfectly balanced between heat and flavor. The Jamaica drink was equally refreshing and well-balanced. What really made it special, though, was the conversation with the owner—his passion for food is infectious....

I ordered the smoked pulled pork plate which comes with vegetables (perfectly cooked) and a few fresh tortillas.. They have four sauces to go with it. I recommend trying all four. The white is extremely hot. Vinegar on its own, doesn’t taste exceptional, but it’s the best one with the pork. It’s amazing. The other two sauces are a sweet barbecue sauce and a spicy mustard sauce. Also excellent. At the end of a long day at the beach, this plate with a can of ice cold Pilsen and beer is perfect.
