We’ve come back to Nosara many times and El Local is our most repeated spot! This is probably the tastiest and healthiest restaurant you can eat at in Nosara, especially if you’re a meat eater. The meat is grass fed, the vegetables are organic and pesticide free, and all of the fish is fresh caught. They are very popular for their burger (I get the kids burger because I can never finish the full one!) but truly everything on the menu is great! This is the one place in CR that I would encourage you to try the steak if you’re craving one. Note that it’s not the same kind of Black Angus thick cut beef we get in the US, but it’s great nonetheless.
Sorry to make a comparison, but we tend to like this place more than La Luna! We love La Luna and the vibes are nice as it’s on the beach but it can be difficult to get into and I find the food at El Local makes me feel better than after I’ve been to La Luna.
The chef, Henry, is incredible, and can whip up pretty much anything. I can attest to this as he was hired him to cook at a private event I attended and he made absolute magic from the Tuna and Robalo that our friends caught that afternoon, among so many other dishes that he graced us with!

Read moreBy far the best restaurant experience that I have had in Nosara by far. Everything from the food to the ambiance of the restaurant was immaculate. Despite us being a large party and the restaurant being fairly busy, the food came out in a timely manner. And it exceeded our expectations, everyone was pleased with their meal and cleaned their plate. The server here was the most attentive that we have had thus far and accommodated to all of our needs no problem. Everything from the pizza to fish to mac and cheese to burgers to salads to jerk chicken and more was all delicious and the portion sizes were decent, so we did not leave hungry like we have at past restaurants in z Nosara. Overall, I would suggest this restaurant to anyone visiting, the menu has a wide range of options and it’s all amazing! It is not often that I leave 5 star reviews, however the experience here Really set the bar high. We have visited a variety of cuisines at a variety of price points in Nosara, and this was the...
Read moreSeveral things I chose on the menu were not available, which is fine. So I chose a hamburger thinking you can't go wrong that. The beef tasted awful and I couldn't eat it. We then waited 35 minutes after my husband finished his meal before anyone came to take our plates and see if we needed anything else. We then ordered cheesecake. We waited another 15 to 20 minutes and finally got up to leave when the waiter brought it. I explained the amount of time we had waited for service. The waiter then got flustered and explained he had other tables to wait on. He pointed to two other tables. A good waiter should be able to handle three tables. They weren't really busy. There were six tables with people in the entire large restaurant when we left and numerous staff. Our original waiter gave our table to another waiter and we got forgotten, then we got a nasty attitude. Bad food and bad service. There are many wonderful restaurants in Nosara. Don't go to this one. It will ruin...
