Whilst writing my review the first thing I considered was, that any veggie/vegan restaurants in this country let alone decent ones are rare. Also, San Jose may have a few, but this is the only one I have tried.
The place is in a cool part of town, paid parking behind, very centrally located if coming by bus, the coolest uni students and San Jose workers grace this place for their veggie fix!
The staff are attentive, speak great English and the food is fresh and reasonably tasty. It also looks great on your plate, but there is definitely room for improvement in the flavour department. If I were to compare it to similar restaurants in London or even La Fortuna say then there is a big difference.
I'd only write a particularly negative review if I felt the vibe and overall ethos of this restaurant wasn't moving in a direction of improvement and growth. It is and I enjoyed my meal and health juice.
It's 5 stars from me, and I look forward to coming back next year, when I visit Costa Rica again to see what improvements and new dishes have been made! (P.s. take off...
Read moreI met up with a friend at El Búho and found it to be an all-around pleasant experience. She ordered a coffee, while my "traveling cube" and I enjoyed the Tumeric Chai tea. It was beautifully presented and accompanied by raw cane sugar and almond milk foam.
The prices were comparable to a Starbucks, but with the hipster ambience known for this part of San Jose, Costa Rica; although I did not get a chance to sample their food options. If I come here again, I'd love to try something else on the menu; their vegetarian-friendly options look plentiful and the service was remarkable! 😋😍...
