The food was excellent, the service not. When we arrived, there were two women on duty on their phones. We sat ourselves and were handed menus by one of the ladies. After a bit, not too long, the one lady returned and took our drink and food order. She left to place the order and returned to the counter with the other lady, and they continued to look at their phones. After a few minutes, we were still waiting for our drinks, which were in a cooler next to the ladies on their phones. You would think the drinks would be served right away since the sooner we got them, the sooner we would need another. After a bit, I asked for our drinks, which were then brought over. While waiting for our food, one of the ladies decided to clean the floor around us...with a leaf blower. While it was a battery-operated one, not as loud as a gas one, it was still noisy. This is an outdoor restaurant, and debris around the floor is expected. By all means, it should be tidied up but not with a blower right next to the table where you have diners. Get a broom, or better yet, just wait till the diners have left. It could even have been done on the other side of the restaurant where there were no diners. After we were served our food, the owner showed up, and the ladies were no longer on their phones. The owner introduced himself and was very pleasant. Again, the food was very good. The service,...
Read moreThe food here is delicious! My family came to Costa Rica for a week and we are at several restaurants along Playa Hermosa but this is the spot we kept coming back to. We've tried practically everything on the menu and it was always fresh and delicious.
The atmosphere is very chill and relaxed. The place is clean and spotless! If you need a break from the high energy that is Coco Beach or looking for a more family oriented restaurant, this is it. Prices are more reasonable compared to the restaurants along the beach as well.
Highlights for my family were the Red Snapper, Beef Carnitas, and Lemonade-mint smoothie. Unbelievably, my 5-year old also liked the snapper, as well as the chicken fingers, breaded shrimp platter and cheeseburger. He LOVED the mango 🥭 smoothie.
If you're really hungry after a long day at the beach go for the buffet. Honestly, I was a bit wary of the buffet at first, being in the hot climate and all, but it was also very tasty. I've tried it several times and like their kitchen items, it didn't disappoint. There's always a fish, chicken, beef, and pork option and it comes with your choice of hot sides, salad bar, and beverage. It's a 1-plate buffet with no refills on the plate or drink.
Sebastian was our guy. He and his father run the restaurant. He took care of my family and his recommendations were spot on. He was always friendly...
Read moreWe’ve dined at Coco Visquez three times now, and each visit has been absolutely exceptional. For around $20 per person, you get a meal that feels like it should cost double — both in flavor and quality.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is consistently outstanding, and the owner and his sons go out of their way to make you feel at home. It’s rare to find that level of genuine hospitality.
The food arrives within 10 to 15 minutes, perfectly timed and always piping hot. The portions are generous, easily enough to satisfy any appetite, and the flavors are unforgettable. I’ve asked for recommendations during each visit, and every dish has been a winner — not just for me, but for my wife and daughter as well. We’ve loved everything we’ve tried.
If you’re looking for a place to eat while staying in the area — especially if you’re at the Waldorf Astoria — this was hands-down our favorite spot. Coco Visquez is a hidden gem that delivers way beyond...
