Our experience with this charter was less than positive. The fishing charter started off well. The crew met us on the beach on time and boarding was easy. The crew was friendly and polite. We left the Rui Palace and headed north of Coco Beach and did some bait fishing. This went relatively well. We caught several bait fish and stopped after 30min of not catching anything. Now the real fishing would begin. Our 6 hrs trip was more like 6.5hrs without any success. The fish were not bitting. During the 1st half the charter we could see our boats in the same location without any luck; the 2nd half we did not see any other charters. Did they stop, did they move to a different location..who knows. The reason for the low rating isn't because we didn't catch anything nor the crew was pleasant..it was the lack of options. We didn't change locations, we didn't change bait, we didn't change fishing style. It would have been nice after 4-5hrs of nothing to ask would you like to go snorkelling (as stated in their website), fish extra time or try again another day? We have been on many charters and when the fish are not bitting this is typically what we experience. We gave the company an opportunity to respond in a positive manner and unfortunately this did not occur. We would never use this charter again or recommend this charter to anyone. I believe when the fishing is good everyone is happy but when the fishing isn't, this is what makes the difference between a great charter and a not so great charter... it is all on how they communicate with the customers and...

First, I want to commend the company on its amazing customer service. They were prompt to call me back and easy to work with I’m scheduling a fishing trip that would include some time fly fishing. Lisa-thank you! Second, the boat was perfect for what we were wanting to do. It allowed us to be able to get in shallow areas for fly fishing with lighter tackle as well as further off shore. Third, Captain Mauricio & First Mate Jonathan were outstanding. If you aren’t fluent in Spanish - no worries as they speak English and will/do communicate with you in English. They are very Knowledgeable of the waters and all types of fishing. They were able to take us to Bay Area where we could cast fly rod off the bow of boat. They knew the areas that would be best for fly fishing given the winds, the tide and the boat. Lastly (only because I’m trying not to write a book), this team of wonderful people made the last day in Papagayo Gulf amazing. My fishing goal of the trip was to catch a tuna, a rooster and to be able to eat a sushi I caught on the boat. While i didn’t catch my tuna during my Costa Rica trip, North Pacific Tours made the dream of a rooster come true as well as a dream I didn’t know I had-a sailfish. Top notch operation. From start to finish, everything was smooth and easy. Lisa was very responsive, and made it simple to book our fishing trip. Lisa sent us instructions that were easy to follow. The boat picked us up on time. You can tell right away that Mauricio and his crew are excellent fishermen. The fishing gear on the boat is top of the line and well maintained. Shimano, Accurate, and Penn reels. They had a large assortment of tackle, including trolling feathers, Flat Falls, and Poppers. They had several fresh ballyhoo onboard already. Throughout the day, we utilized different fishing techniques. We trolled for marlin and mahi mahi. We jigged for snapper and tuna. And we fished inshore for tuna and roosters. All in one day!! We had a great day of catching several different species. At the end of the day, the crew filleted our fish perfectly. Whether you want to bring all of your own gear, or just hop on the boat with only an Imperial in your hand, this is who you want to fish with. And please don't...
