We were on our honeymoon and the room was very noisy and you could hear everything from the workers on the roof, the ppl next door taking a shower, and basically any noise outside those 4 walls. They put us over the garage area so everytime those doors opened at night, we knew it. Although our room faced the beach area, it also faced the local bar, where we heard everything until 2am. Just when we thought it was safe to go back to sleep, the howler monkeys started st 530am. There is no phone in the room. There was no hot water in the shower, nor any hand towels or face towels. No place to hang up any wet bathing suits or any other clothes. The mattress was very uncomfortable and killed our backs. The front desk guy, whom we referred to as Tommy Chong, was of no help whatsoever. The wifi only works walking to the room, not actually anywhere else on property. We were trying to book an excursion to Diamante to zipline and couldn't get the wifi to cooperate. We went to Tommy (Andres) at the front desk for help since they have a computer and better service. He said to give him a few and he would find something out. We waited at the pool, he comes out and his proposal is that his friend would drive us, go ziplining with us, take us to do whatever else we wanted and bring us back to the hotel. My husband asked, "do we have to pay for him to go ziplining?" Tommy says yes. I laughed, literally out loud. I said, if we wanted someone to go with us and to pay for, we would've brought our kids. Needless to say, we did everything on our own, including the booking. Turns out, from the female desk clerk, that they had a booklet that had an excursion company he could've called for us. Smh. It turns out we had to leave 2 days earlier than expected. We called booking and they said it should be no problem. They called the hotel for us explaining the situation and the owner did not want to refund the money we had already paid, in cash. I offered my credit card for them to credit. We were told that the owner would go to the bank the next day and refund us then. One problem, we had to leave at 430am in order to catch the 650am flt. They assured us they would credit our card. Well, it's been 5 days and still no refund. At this point, I know we wont get it and they stole our money. So I am telling you, if you're reading this, that the owner is a Scheißkopf and will take your money. You can find a better...
Read moreIt started out difficult booking this room.$153 USD on a priceline platform. About 30 minutes later someone sent me a WhatsApp message requesting all of my credit card information which I did not feel comfortable in doing on WhatsApp to someone saying they are representing the hotel. So the response was we will not hold your room without it. When I did check in for my reservation it took an extra long time for someone to come to the reservation desk. About 15 minutes or so before someone showed up to check me in. Parking was only by accessing the “back alley” of the hotel. So I drove a few block back up to the main road (highway) and went looking for the alleyway access road. The room itself was very basic. Excessively simple. Definitely not worth the $153 USD paid. At about 4 am I was awakened by children and adults outside my door playing, laughing and talking loudly. I had to ask them to show respect for people who were sleeping. At 7 am I was woken again but this time it was the workers and maintenance staff outside my room talking loudly and making noise. We packed up and checked out. In our rush to leave I had left behind my prescription eye glasses and my wife left her gold earrings in the bathroom. Breakfast was included but don’t order the American breakfast. A dried up hot dog with a piece of cardboard toast. The wife said hers was ok. The next day after realizing that I didn’t have my glasses, I tried contacting the hotel for help. I was told the items were not found in the room. I requested the name of the hotel manager several times to make a formal complaint and was not given the name of anyone. The proximity to the beach is the only good thing I experienced on this reservation. I would steer clear of this...
Read moreAvoid Avoid Avoid! |This hotel was the biggest disappointment of our entire 2 week trip-and the most expensive!!! (we stayed in 5 different hotels ) We were a group of 7 adults and Playa Hermosa was our last stop. I was embarrassed at having chosen this for our group, and felt bad for everyone as it certainly wasn't the way we wanted to remember Costa Rica. Extremely basic rooms with a window opening into a dark hallway. On the other side of the hallway there was a parking lot. It felt like a cell (though I've never been in one) In one of our rooms there was a broken ceiling fan. In another, a broken table. They all smelled musty. Showers dribbled. In all of our rooms there were ants. |For the price and the hype, I was expecting much more. |Two of us were able to change to a Villa which was nicer though dated, and required significantly more cash 'under the table'. It felt like a sleezy deal. The grounds are pretty; proximity to the beach was good; breakfast was sparse/basic. (We were allotted one slice of bread per customer) After the first day, we chose to go to a restaurant at the end of the street instead. |We asked to speak to the manager and were told she would be in the next day. She was not. Emails went unanswered. |The hotel advertises shuttles to Liberia airport. When we tried to arrange this, we were told they did not exist, and to arrange our own. |I always try to give a positive review, but sadly could not with Villa Acacia. If you are considering it, I'd suggest to keep looking. There will be something with better value that is cleaner, brighter...
