Lovely little hotel in the community of Play Hermosa. Likely the best value for a hotel in the area. It is only about 1.5 blocks on a straight road to the enormous beach. I spent 2 days/ nights here to be close to the Liberia Airport at the end of my 16 day Costa Rica trip. Hotel was about 25 minute cab ride to the airport. The hotel was very clean and quite charming. The pool area was lovely. There were three offerings for breakfast - pancakes and fruit, gallo pinto (costa Rican breakfast) or eggs, toast, sausage and fruit. The owners and staff were lovely and very kind. They made arrangements for a cab to take me at 5:30 am to the airport ($50 US which is good value for the area- have cash).
There are restaurants all around the hotel. I walked to the beach and ate main meals at restaurants right on the beach (AquaSport and Roberto’s- both highly recommended). I enjoyed this hotel immensely. What you see in the pictures is exactly...
Read moreHotel Mangaby is located in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste. The hotel is an easy walk to the beach -- approximately 100 meters. The business is family owned and operated. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. They have a lovely custom pool that serves as their trademark. To add, they have a very nice restaurant that serves breakfast (included) and is open throughout the day into the evening. The menu is extensive and the food is delicious. In addition, the management (Alberto, Sr. and Alberto, Jr. who typically run the office) go out of their way to assist you with any additional needs or helpful suggestions that you may have. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, from housekeeping to waitstaff to the cooks. We stayed there ten days while searching for a house and they all made us feel like family. The rates are more than fair. We have been back twice and will certainly...
Read moreThis hotel is a wonderful gem. The staff are all extremely friendly. The rooms have exactly what you need and ours was only about 5 steps from the pool (which was always exceptionally clean). They were painting and updating while we stayed so you can see they put effort into maintaining the hotel. The restaurant had great food (the breakfast buffet was small but completely adequate for a breakfast with rice and beans, plantains, a meat option, eggs, toast and fresh fruit available each day). We also had casado plates which were tasty. The beds were comfortable and the whole hotel was clean. The walk to Playa Hermosa beach is super short and there are two restaurants there. It is a wonderful, uncrowded beach. (The first picture is as you are coming down the short street, the hotel is on the right and easily identifiable by the bright yellow paint). We would...
