You MUST eat here. Antichi Sapori is our new absolutele favourite restaurant, not just in tamarindo. You'll be greeted by the owner Giuseppe or his brother in law and what happens next is only described as the best single dining experience we've ever had
From the beautiful small patio where you eat, the charm of being explained the menu by the owner and incredible attention to detail in both the food and customer service. And even the owner and his Sicilian brother in-law bickering in Italian amongst themselves shows the pure passion and dedication that they have to the art of their craft. We couldn't stop raving about any of it on the walk back to our hotel room and this is now our favorite memory about tamarindo
The food is on another level entirely. Everything knocked it out of the park and I'm not exaggerating, bruschetta, bacon pistaccio gnocchi, Marlin linguine and the myriad of drinks and desserts were all incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared and absolutely to die for delicious. This isn't your hometown "Italian" restaurant. This is a pure-bread authentic Sicilian dining experience, and I emphasize experience.
Thank you thank you antichi Sapori for giving us a night to remember and food we will be coming back for in a future trip. We...

Starting with the food: We started with the Bruscetta Classica. The Bruscetta itself was fresh and flavorful and the bread was the perfect balance between crisp and soft. We found out that Giuseppe and his wife make the bread every morning. For entrees, we got the bolognese and the carbonara pasta. Again, both were absolutely incredible. The carbonara was creamy with a slight smokiness from the fresh guanciale. The bolognese came with slices of bread to dip with the fresh and flavorful sauce and the portion sizes were perfect for all dishes. We finished with the tiramisu which was also homemade, and was so delicious; it melted in your mouth.
As someone who comes from a big italian family, I have had a lot of Italian food and can definitively say that this meal was fresh, authentic, made with passion and care, and so tasty.
As for the hospitality: Giuseppe, the owner was fantastic. He made us feel at home in his restaurant and was so accommodating. We loved talking to him and learning more about his background. The service all around was so quick and attentive and kind.

Read moreI would give this place a gazillion stars if I could! We found this little spot after not being able to get a seat at Fishes & Cheeses. Lucky us that it led to this cozy spot that oozed charm, epic service, food, and wine. The owner, a Sicilian, was attentive and passionate about his menu, and rightly so. The dishes are his family recipes, and we chose the two most highly recommended. We started with carpaccio bresaola and the mediterranea salad. Woah...phenomenal. For our entrée we shared the bolognese and pistachio gnocchi. We have spent time in Italy and ate our share of bolognese, but none compared to the authenticity of this dish. It wasn't acidic like most indicating it was slow simmered for hours, creating a thick ragu that melted in our mouths. The gnocchi was another level. Made by his wife again using a family recipe. It was full of chopped pistachios on top of a buttery, creamy white cheese sauce. I am drooling now just thinking about it. It seems contradicting to find a stellar italian restaurant in Costa Rica, but we did and are thankful to have done so. Highly recommend this casual...
