as a returning client to Nahua, and so much of that just wasn't true, xcpt maybe the disco noise from down the street. The hotel had arranged for our shuttle from LIR and even though we were very early, a room was ready for us soon after breakfast at the excellent Bodega fronting the complex. We received a friendly greeting by staff, returning guests from other years and the howler monkeys in the large tree at the entry portal. There are more plants around the grounds, the big trees are spectacular and home to lots of life and the pool was clean and being windy, pink flowers would spiral down - that's a problem? If everything didn't have fresh paint, it looked like it, and sheets were clean as were the rooms as the staff worked hard every day. On this occasion we stayed in the lower triplex, in the middle. Noise bleed-through is non-existent through the concrete walls; it is true that thumping bass sound can be heard from a block away on some nights - would be nice if there was enforcement on how loud and late that place could pump out the music. Each year we return there is more building in Tamarindo which has its good and bad side. The good: for convenience there is now a grocery right next door and a bank with US dollar dispensing ATM's beside it. Both markets are very close and the Saturday one has expanded. The thursday night market is mostly crafts. Turning left leaving the complex and turning left again opposite the 'white skyrise' on the corner at the junction has you aiming very quickly to Langosta beach near the divide with Tamarindo beach. On your left you might miss the sign for the book store, right away tucked in a bit. This is the only place in Tamarindo to purchase stamps and since he visits the outer post office frequently, the owner said that letters abroad will take two weeks posted with him as opposed to two months left in a correo box. There is also a good and reasonable open air argentine restaurant on that side and opposite of it is the lane that takes you quickly to the beach and a restaurant (chiringuito) that gets live music. there was a lot more live music around tamarindo this year, with the growing population of visitors. most places on the beach now have wifi, happy hour beers at only 1000 colonnes and great sunset views. Close to Nahua at the junction, Sharky's will let Canadians keep up with NHL games on big screen, across the street from Nahua, Pasatiempo has laid back music. Bodega is the place for quality food and friendly staff and a discount breakfast menu for Nahua'ers. ||The nahua staff are wonderful, personable and helpful, including connections et al, that's why so many of us are returnees. Thanks, Gabriela, Alex and all for your support and just being you....
Read moreI absolutely loved me time here. This place is an oasis in Tamarindo. We loved our private patio, and spent most of our time out there or at the pool watching the wildlife that frequent the beautiful gardens. Because of the amazing gardens, the hotel grounds stay nice and cool. We saw monkies, iguana, many birds, squirrels all just at the hotel and enjoyed relaxing and watching nature there.||It is conveniently located next to a bank, grocery store and pharmacy. There are restaurants as close as across the street. It's quick and easy to get to all the shops and restaurants in the main part of town as it's just off the super busy area. It's a quick walk to the beach, the food truck park and the markets as well.||Our room was comfortable and clean. There were minor things but we are not picky. If you are expecting top tier luxury this may not be it, but the rooms are renovated, look quite nice and we really enjoyed our stay. AC was appreciated haha.||My favorite part of staying here aside from the beautiful gardens and grounds and pool was the owner and the staff. The owner is so lovely as were all the employees. Mara was exceptionally helpful in arranging shuttles and tours for us. I felt like I found a family here. ||I would really love to return to Costa Rica and I will definitely make sure I spend at least a few days at Casa Nahua when I come back.||The one negative is you will hear music faintly from the restaurants around. I actually didn't mind sitting outside or at the pool and listening to it at night. Saturday it went late and I found we went to bed quite early here after being outdoors all day. I wear earplugs as I am a light sleeper and was able to sleep incredibly well here even with hearing some bass but if this is something that would bother you, you may want to consider staying somewhere further away from the main town area. ||All photos are taken on the Casa...
Read moreIn the heart of Tamarindo, close enough to the action but in nature. The salt water pool feels really good on skin compared to chlorine, and the pool is long enough that one can actually get some exercise swimming in. The bed is comfortable. The air conditioner in the room is nice and quiet and is so quick that we are able to shut the AC off all day while we are away to conserve energy (we did this voluntarily; we were not asked to shut the AC off). Resident monkeys, wild monkeys, stop in and are in the bushes and trees right around you! We loved the fact that our aluminum cans and plastic bottles are taken specifically for recycling, not mixed in with general refuse. Environmentalists will enjoy this place, including which soap they provide and how they use water a second time to water plants. There is a nice screen on the sliding door in case you don't want the AC on and want the sliding door wide open with the screen closed. The wifi is plenty fast, allowing us to work from the hotel. Extremely conveniently located to Vindi, a supermarket that has anything you want to eat and drink. Amazing fan palm at pool and comfortable lounge chairs at pool. Your belongings are secure and safe in your room in part because there is a night watchman awake and checking the grounds constantly. The water is hot enough and there is good enough water pressure. We don't see a sign out front saying "Nahua" or "Hotel Nahua" or "Casa Nahua" and we don't know why.. must be a great place if you don't even need a sign! There is some sound from all the fun going on in Tamarindo but you would find this same sound at any location this conveniently located; we just use earplugs if we go to bed early. So very close to the beach and the restaurants of...
