I'm not entirely sure that these reviews are really. The food was absolutely garbage. We went with a party of nine who all got different things. Nachos: all cold toppings and was sitting in a pile of soup. Fish and chips: frozen grocery store fish. Pizza: raw dough and had 0 flavor. Chicken tacos: not sure it was really chicken, my 11 year old niece said "it tastes like a sponge." Sea food platter: everything smelled and tasted like it had gone bad. Burger: impossible to mess up but was somehow the worst burger ever. Drinks: terrible, just tasted like rubbing alcohol. My brothers beer had a sharp shard of glass in it that he nearly swallowed. Every table around us wasn't eating the food and were taking it togo. Which tells me we were not the only people who hated the food. The staff was very rude and unhelpful. So if you like terrible food, rude staff and ingesting glass, then this is the place for you. Worst experience I've ever had. I don't typically leave reviews but when there is glass in your drink I think a bad review is warranted....
Read moreAfter going fishing and being so lucky to capture a Dorado, we wanted to have it for dinner. As we were in a hotel, we asked the crew about the best place to carry it. They mentioned some great restaurants, but majority recommended Walter's, so we selected it. This is a third generation business. When we arrived to the beach, the manager, Luis, was waiting for us at the beach. We agreed these dishes: tropical ceviche, 3 different ways of cook -with garlic, fried "empanizado" and some pieces Cajun seasoned- and some tacos. We arrived at 8pm, the table was ready (great beach views although it was nighttime) and Luis stayed speaking with us about some funny cultural topics. A great guy đ. As it is common in Costa Rica, he balanced very well the constant attention with the privacy, and the simpathy with the respect. Dinner was perfectly cooked. Mojitos and piña colada were amazing. And price was very competitive. We hope we can...
Read moreClassic Tico fare along with some American style favorites. What sets Walter's apart is their staff. Olman and Luis are the names I can remember at the moment, but there are a couple of other names that should also be here, these guys are great. Great service, forgiving of my lack of lack of proficiency in Spanish (they do great with English when I need it đ), and helpful in every way. Walter's has a charter fishing boat. If you purchase a fishing trip, they'll even cook you a meal from your catch when you return. They have a lot of local wildlife that likes to come by for the occasional handout, but the star of the show is named Luis - a howler monkey that comes by almost every day. Sunsets that are beatiful beyond words are another treat when you are here. After sunset, you'll be treated to a fire show on the beach, mariachis, and more. Highly...
