We went there two days in a row. First day was actually good. The service was friendly and fast. We ordered a sea bass and lamb, homemade lemonade and beer. It tasted really good and i can recommend this. BUT we actually went there to preorder a meat peka for the day after. We were told it has to be cooked for three to four hours and thats actually how we know it from places at plitvica. When we arrived at 8 pm at the appointed time, the peka wasn't ready yet. We were told that the brother of the restaurant owner ordered a peka also and so ours was started much later. We got some bread and sheep cheese as appetizer for free to skip the time. 1 hour later the peka was finally served to us. It was really disappointing and way below expectations. It tasted bland, no spices added. The meat wasn't as soft as expected. The peka wasn't cooked in a traditional clay pot, as advertised i think, but in a metal "pan" and it was obvious that this was hastely made for a peka. We didn't finish it completly although we were kinda hungry. Got a free walnut shot after that but paid fast...
Read moreSo I travel the world looking for the best food and am basically a walking pac man. If you are ever in Omis and love seafood as much as I do then this post is for you my hungry friend. I was recommended Konoba Gusti by a Croatian gal I met on the bus and wandered myself here. While there was no one here at 5.30 pm I pushed through any social anxiety and asked for a seat. The staff were welcoming and the chef was rearing to go with his hot coals. They did me a solid and did a seafood platter for one likely out of pity but I would like to think out of love. The seafood was cooked to perfection (on real friggin coals!)and a selection of the dalmatians best. I ate every morsel along with a ice cold beer and boy or girl this was the best seafood / meal I had in Croatia - everyone says this but I can tell you iv had some misses let’s say. To top it all off the lovely lady offered me a homemade cherry liquor just to send me on my merry way. From one hungry traveler to the next do you self a favour and don’t thank me but just thank the...
Read moreWe were a little skeptical at first as we were the only diners but we were welcomed in and the decor and service was so homely. To start we both had a soup. Mine a beef and my partner tomato. Both of these were so flavoursome and fresh. For main my partner chose a sea bream and myself a seafood pasts. Mine was full of fresh mussles, clams and prawns and my partners fish had been cooked on the fire outside and later served with garlic potatoes etc. Again a really wholesome delicious meal. To finish the lady asked If I liked strong or sweet drinks I responded both to which she gave me a local drink consisting of many herbs 22? And a cherry liqueur type drink on tbe house. The strong one was very strong lol
Overall the food was very good and great value just couldn't understand where other diners were that night! Highly recommend if like...
