First of all, the decoration of the restaurant is really amazing and quite impressive. Thatās what attracted us to enter.
When checking the menu, the price is more expensive than other restaurant, but since it has such a high rating on google maps, we thought letās give it a try.
We order the mixed seafood platter, and I have to say we are quite disappointed. It was too salty, and all 4 types of seafood has exactly the same sauce & taste, so it gets very boring.
The service is attentive, however, while we were eating, the 2 waitresses just stood there and watch us eat, this is quite uncomfortable for us.
Lastly, this has nothing to do with the restaurant but I would like to make a report to one staff whose name is Michael. We passed by the restaurant 2h after we left, Michael was outside the restaurant trying to get customer, we told him we just eaten here and he started chatting with us. Then he started talking about this drink called āHavana Freshā at this bar where Che Guevara used to visit, he then offered to take us to the bar which was nearby. I do remember friends telling me not to let anyone take you to any place while in Havana, but he seemed very friendly, and we thought Michael was wearing uniform from Iris Restaurant and he represents the restaurant, unlikely that he will do anything sketchy, so we didnāt turn down the offer. While arriving at the bar, we could feel the atmosphere was weird, luckily we donāt drink any alcohol so we used that as an excuse to not order any drink and walked out. We could see Michael changed his face suddenly and started asking us for tips for taking us to this place that is 2 minutes walk away. Later I looked up the bar on google map, it is called āEl angel de Tejadilloā and found out that it is a tourist trap where people will bring you there for a very expensive drink that costs 10USD and the person gets commission for it. It is a really immoral way to treat tourists like this by taking them to such places. This happened on 2nd April between 2.30-3pm. It took us 2 days to write this as we were worried to get into any trouble for reporting such incident since we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to this restaurant after reading so many positive reviews. Letās begin by the restaurant, itās beautiful and nice. The service is also very good and friendly. Now the most Important point ⦠the food ? Usually i donāt give a very negative feedback, but what we had on our table (fish-Lobster-octopus) and some different starters, was far from fresh and taste š. From deep of my heart I can say that I have never ever tasted such bad seafood in my entire life š. The fish was like a plastic and had awful smell and taste š¤¢, the lobster was so hard and dry I could someoneās head with it š«¤. The octopus was extremely salty and was marinated in a strange sauce that we could not swallow š£. I can say the food was absolutely not fresh and old. My wife and I were so disappointed and regretted eating this place. We lost our trust in eating seafood again in whole Cuba. Never ever again in any other place in entire Cuba š. Finally the price ā¦. $68 šØ for above 3 small portions + 2 very small sliders. If the food was good and delicious, I wouldnāt care paying even more than that ! Unfortunately...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Cuba in February and ate at this restaurant on one of the last nights. We could tell how everyone who worked there was eager to make us feel welcomed and comfortable from the minute we set foot in this restaurant. All of the food we ordered was so delicious and we especially liked the small "tasters" that accompanied our meals. We were surprised to receive more fish than mashed potatoes for our entreé and would have liked more potatoes, but everything definitely tasted scrumptious. We also enjoyed some delectable white wine that was poured table-side, and the live guitar music that accompanied our dining experience made the whole experience even more special. We really hope that this restaurant continues to succeed in the tough...
