We wanted to eat at Taipei Town on Friday the 26th and have had the unfortunate experience to be effectively unserved by the staff. Our experience at Taipei Town has been so far the worst service, and restaurant, experience. As an African couple we have seen Caucasian groups and couples who clearly arrived after us be serviced with no hesitation. Maybe they had reservations? We did not see a reservation card on any table. The staff has passed us by, and only after a direct request did we receive the menu. Afterwards nothing has happened from the service side. After almost half an hour passed we left the restaurant with a taste of disappointment and disrespect.
Some may say, the restaurant included, that there is no evidence for any sort of racial discrimination. Nonetheless, we intend to share our experience as the situation I have described should be regarded as irritating at the very least. May this review help others in choosing the right restaurant.
This review is only directed at the service experience. Also, this is the only restaurant in Ayia Napa where we have had such a service experience. We have eaten at 6 restaurants so far. Thus, this, from our perspective, is an outlier which should not speak for the service experience...
Read moreNot good. Food is plentiful but this is at a cost of quality. It’s cheap prices as it’s cheap cuts of meat and cheap food. We’d order a vast array of dishes and none of them was good. Egg fried rice was swimming in oil, chow mein has some sort of flat noodles it was more of a pasta than noodle with white cabbage RAW! Diced carrots, peas and no bean sprouts. Salt & pepper chips are not salt and pepper chips, chips came out with some sort of black stuff on them with veg on top not salt & pepper chips at all. Everything is covered with oil. Sweet & Sour was a vibrant red colour not good, tasted too sweet and to much vinegar in it. Way to many staff serving the 1 table that they didn’t have a clue what was what. Staff was bringing us other customers orders and going from table to table to find the right customer. Place was clean and staff friendly, but manager needs more training or advice on how to deal with a complaint rather than saying “do you want some sort of discount?” He should of empathised with us but instead said “I will pay the bill for you out of my own pocket!” We just asked for the items that wasn’t edible and we DIDN'T EAT to be removed from the bill. We have eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants but this is the worse...
Read moreReally quite disappointing to be honest🤦🏻♀️ Everything, ESPECIALLY the fried rice and chow mein is SOOOO oily it’s ridiculous! Your mouth literally gets coated with oil and the whole packet has it at the bottom too! Crispy beef-Where is the beef? It is so thin but so fully breaded that unfortunately it’s mostly just fried flour when you eat it! The chow mein was so bad. Noodles over cooked and not chow mein sauce at all, just like a lot of oil and some soy sauce more like. Mix fried rice was literally just oil, no flavour at all. Spicy fried chicken was also quite flavourless and (surprise) oily and the sizzling beef with garlic and onion was very strange. The quality of beef was horrible and it was almost unrecognisable as beef in the dish, sauce was also very bland. Sweet n sour was okay. Overall, the quality of the ingredients is shockingly bad and the preparation equally so. The flavours are basically just salt, spice and oil. No depth or effort in the dishes. Very very sad and a waste of the...
